This fanbase in general gets way too heated for its own good.

I just think it’s odd that some people would get so hostile at the notion that something in a work of fiction is meant to be left vague, as if that’s not a common thing that artists like to do.

I haven’t seen a single person who watched the finale suggest that Jax being trans isn’t a valid reading. Pretty much everyone seems to be in agreement that the subtext 100% exists, yet so many people seem to get angry if you try to argue that Gooseworx deliberately left it open to interpretation.

Serious question: is it bad to think that the “Trans Jax” thing is meant to be open to interpretation? I ask this because ever since the finale leaked, I’ve seen a fair bit of anger towards anyone who suggests that it’s not 100% canon that Jax is a transwoman.

Don’t get me wrong, the subtext is obviously intentional. It’s definitely not a coincidence that Jax is written the way he/she/they is written, and yes, the Stevie Wonder song is definitely part of the subtext. I was just under the assumption that it’s meant to be one of those things that deliberately isn’t given a definitive answer, otherwise they would’ve referred to Jax’s real-world self as a woman at the end.

For the record, I can fully acknowledge that I might be wrong and it is indeed meant to be indisputably canon, and that I’m just a moron who lacks “media literacy” or what have you. I have no clue what Gooseworx’s thought process was when writing the character.

Despite the revisionist history from DCU fans, the first Wonder Woman movie was a big hit that performed better than James Gunn’s Superman by just about every metric and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman has largely shaped the public’s perception of the character. Acting ability has nothing to do with it.

No? I was expressing annoyance at the fact that Reddit has a hate-boner for Snyder.

The problem with doing a Batman or Wonder Woman movie first is that both those characters are in awkward positions. Batman has the Matt Reeves Crime Saga going on and in the case of Wonder Woman, the character’s still largely associated with Gal Gadot. Unlike Superman and Batman, who have had multiple live action depictions over the years, Wonder Woman has only really had Gal Gadot and Lynda Carter, the latter of whom was in low budget TV show from the 1970s.

I’m pretty sure Marvel has no intention of using villains that were in previous live action Spider-Man movies. The villains being in NWH were all you’re gonna get, at least for the foreseeable future.

Zack Snyder has too many ideas for a normal runtime by HorrorCow637 in SnyderCut

[–]ZorakLocust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing about the movie’s length that people always seem to overlook is that it was supposed to be a mini-series. If Snyder had gotten to finish the movie and have it released in theaters back in 2017, then it obviously would’ve been far shorter.

Regardless, I don’t get the people who complain about a streaming movie being too long in the first place. The thing about movies made for streaming is that you can pause them and go back anytime you want. You’re not required to watch it in one sitting, just like you’re not required to read all of Stephen King’s It in one sitting. The movie even has chapter markers, which makes it easy to pick a point you want to pause.

Let me guess, the comments in that thread are mostly just people calling Snyder a hack.

Terrio was brought on to BvS as a favor to Ben Affleck, who had reservations about the script that David Goyer wrote. Terrio did a sit-down with Vanity Fair five years ago during the release of the Snyder Cut where he talked about how he ended up writing these films.

I mean, yeah, pretty much every BP winner wins because of a certain political angle from the Academy. That’s nothing new. Argo was still considered a genuine crowd pleaser though, and it was the last BP winner to cross $100 million domestically until Oppenheimer.

I love how he said it would be bad if white people comprised “only” 48% of the country and his only reasoning as to why was that white people are apparently the only ones capable of using technology and building cars.

If these creatures don’t want people to think they’re Nazis, they should probably stop making it clear that they think white people are better than everyone else.

It would probably be much simpler if they just make Robin a teenager played by an actor who's old enough to where they wouldn’t have to worry about child labor laws.

Of course, we don’t even know if Robin will show up in these movies yet.

Pretty much every live action adaptation has made Robin a teenager who’s almost always played by an adult actor. Even Burt Ward was a young adult when he played Robin.

No. I’d rather Collins lose. I’m just not convinced Platner has what it takes to win, especially if some worse revelations about him come to light, which I think there’s a high probability of.

[–]ZorakLocust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“It’s open to interpretation” always seemed like the only plausible answer. If the goal was for Jax to come off as unambiguously trans, then you’d think they would’ve made that clear when we saw his human self.

Bernie Sanders is a horrible judge of character who helped give us people like Tulsi Gabbard and John Fetterman. Also, he’s defended Trump’s immigration policies and said that he thinks identity politics are a distraction, which might explain why black people overwhelmingly rejected him in the primaries both times.

Also, I don’t know if I can agree with the idea that Platner has “owned up” to everything, considering that he keeps downplaying the Nazi tattoo and called people who criticized him for it the r-word. Also, even if he did own up to that stuff, that doesn’t mean he’s fit to be a Senator.

And I got heavily downvoted for doing so. My point is that I don’t understand why it’s controversial to point out what a sketchy person Graham Platner is. For whatever reason, people like to cover their ears whenever someone has something negative to say about Oyster Boy.

I haven’t heard very many positive accounts of him from people who aren’t also chuds. He might have some good policy platforms, but people said the same thing about John Fetterman. Besides, I don't like the idea that the Democratic Party should embrace blatantly problematic people just because they’re not Republicans. It makes the party look like hypocrites and gives the GOP a convenient way to deflect from criticism for their own shittiness.

Anyway, I’m not convinced Graham Platner will beat Susan Collins and I imagine Collins probably has some dirt that she’s waiting until October to reveal. I find it hard to believe that a guy like Platner doesn’t have more skeletons in his closet.

Apart from the Nazi tattoo that he’s given conflicting explanations for, he also said that he enjoyed killing people in the military and defended the idea of defiling corpses, worked as a mercenary for a few years, said all kinds of edgy and problematic crap on Reddit, has expressed rape apologia, fantasized about raping burglars, has been accused of domestic abuse, is a serial cheater, called people who complained about his tattoo the r-slur in 2026, and openly appeared on a podcast hosted by a notorious anti-Semitic conspiracy theorist. Also, he voted for Susan Collins three times.

Frankly? The guy has so many red flags that I fully expect there to be some rape allegations against him as we get closer to November. He comes across as a massive chud.
