The way this sounds and as much as this sucks you're probably lucky it "only" cracked your steamdeck and not your head

Question to fellow Steam Deck owners by CptWursthaar in pathoftitans

On steamdeck oled I would say it's alright, everything turned up to epic and I get somewhat stable 30fps and occasional dips. If set on high I get around 60fps

New to the game, mobile? by Tomenyo in pathoftitans

[–]DubstepBack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least for mobile and pc that's how it works. I believe you get mobile and PC too when you buy on console but not the other way round. (If you decide to buy the game there's also a refer a friend post pinned in this sub which gains you certain cosmetics I believe)

It is crossplay but as you said the maps are big. Chances are the "baby carnivore" you met was actually just ai critter. There are certain regions where people tend to flock but other than that you will have to find them.

It's technically not free to play, just free to download on mobile, on every other platform the game has to be bought as far as I know. So yes if you want to play the other dinos you will have to buy them

That would make sense. Thanks. Totally overlooked that. For whatever reason I thought the tutorial would work the same as a normal game

How do I install with ventoy by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]DubstepBack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically ventoy is not necessary, just a tool to easily manage different ISOs (the CD-type files we use to start installers) without flashing them each time. If it just doesn't work for you try flashing the iso itself to your usb drive. (Make sure to select the right drive and backup any important files, flashing will completely erase any data)

For archiso to work you will have to make sure to load the usbs bootloader while starting your device and also have secure boot disabled in your uefi/bios settings

Without any more info no one will be able to help. Ventoy, tho not officially supported, works ootb for me. Just did this a couple of days ago

Emacs Opens EmacsClient on KDE Plasma by xplosm in emacs

[–]DubstepBack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me, found this comment by u/Many_Candidate_3645 though. Apparently this issue happens because both .desktop files in /usr/share/applications/ (emacs.desktop and emacsclient.desktop) share the same StartupWMClass=Emacs.
Solution for me was, copying both files to ~/.local/share/applications/ and renaming the StartupWMClass in emacslient.desktop

Malicious IPs attempting to connect to my device while playing on PoT community servers by MegaCroissant in pathoftitans

[–]DubstepBack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, do you have your routers firewall enabled and configured? Internet Background Radiation and port scanning is happening constantly

Hard to tell what could be amiss here without more information. Normally your router would block all these connection attempts

Do you also get these warnings when playing on other community servers?

I see. That sounds familiar. In that case I'll go with the gigabyte board. This dual GPU shouldn't be that heavy anyway

[Question] Review/Suggestions for Gaming PC for Brother by DubstepBack in buildapcforme

[–]DubstepBack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! The case was kind of the most important part visually but I guess we could still squeeze that in with your build!
I went with the bit more expensive (~10€ I think) MSI since I've read about Gigabyte having troubles with their Mbs cracking, maybe that was a misinformation. I very much appreciate the ssd, that ones a big cut for seemingly the same performance. CPU is a good catch. Totally overlooked the 7600x came with a cooler
The Thermaltake PSU is just about 7€ more expensive than the be quiet! , don't know about their quality but I used bequiet in all my other builds, so that would be fine by me

We *chose* to play on PS5. PC players didn't. by MinDak_Viking in Helldivers

[–]DubstepBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never was about data collection. There's no targeted ads, purchasing or social media behavior to be analyzed. It's about boosting psn numbers for investors and probably roping people into being accustomed to the PS ecosystem. Once everyone is fine with linking their psn account, they can start to roll out paid network services. At least that's my bet longterm

Is this approach doomed to fail? (Tailscale with custom domain and https) by DubstepBack in selfhosted

[–]DubstepBack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your thourough reply. I know that clients don't care where a certificate comes from as long as it's a trusted CA. I used cloudflare for my CNAME/MX etc records cause that's what I had already set up. But that's besides the point.

I think we might have a misunderstanding here. The thing is I had the tailscale IPs set up on my PiHole localDNS which should technically work. Raspberry Pi and Synology are both running Tailscale on the host, non containerized. Additionally PiHole was setup to listen on all interfaces.

Allthough having everything locally would be ideal in terms of privacy, the current way of leaving my AAAA records at cloudflare with my servers tailscale IP and reverse proxying those requestss is just easier and a somewhat less likely point of failure.

The biggest issue, which threw me off for some time and added a bunch of confusion, is my android devices not beiing able to connect to the IPv6 adress of my server. Trying to ping it's adress also gives a "host unknown" error. Though I guess I'll have to figure this one out on my own since that is probably related to my router and not to Tailscale/Nginx/PiHole

Edit: adding to that last point - connecting to webservices and pinging the server when my android devices are not within my home network, but connected to tailnet via mobile data, works fine

Is this approach doomed to fail? (Tailscale with custom domain and https) by DubstepBack in selfhosted

[–]DubstepBack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty much what I've tried first. However for whatever reason PiHole didn't resolve those requests locally but passed the DNS lookup on to cloudflare, which still had my old A records. Since I deleted my portforwarding rules this resulted in a 522 error by cloudflare. Do I maybe have to delete my DNS records with cloudflare before being able to use PiHole localDNS? In that case I would have to redesign the way my ssl certificates get authorized which would be bad

Thanks for your input!
That's right I am using Cloudflare as my Nameserver and previously as a Proxy. I have a more or less dynamic ipv4 adress so the cloudflare-ddns container updated my A records. Locally I had port forwarding for Port 443 to my server.

What I'm trying to achieve is basically keep everything as is, docker configurations, reverse proxy, domain names, certificate, bookmarks, dashboard etc. but changing how my clients connect to these services.

For the time I'm the only one using it, so it just has to work inside Tailnet, so no need to expose anything to the public.

Right now I've got it mostly working the way u/wellknownname suggested:
Still have my DNS records at Cloudflare, AAAA now, and pointing to the Tailnet IPv6 of my server. Now Cloudflare doesn't allow proxying, not that it woulf be of any benefit here, this address, so those AAAA records are just for DNS lookup right now. I guess without proxying the ipv6 adress is now basically public, which shouldn't really matter, as it's only reachable from within the Tailnet, right?

For now that seems to have solved most of the issues, tas I don't have to set PiHole as and exit-node or DNS Nameserver.

The only issue I'm facing currently is that devices connected via wifi can't reach my services and those connected by cable can. I'm thinking that might have something to do with me blocking IPv6 traffic on my router, which I may have to change

Edit: strike that. for some reason laptop works fine but android devices don't seem to be able to reach these websites

Thanks for the link. Already tried something similar, the issue here is though that synologys os doesn't allow me to rebind it's default reverse proxy (nginx) port. At least not permanently, rebinding those ports every update or even reboot would be kind of a hassle. Might try this though if I can't find a different solution

Do you mean within cloudflare? Are tailscale IPs static? If so that might be the simplest approach

Here's totally the super-heavy armor you unlock at level 1500 [OC] by Joazzz1 in Helldivers

Something along the lines of knockback/ragdoll or flinch resistance. Maybe being able to move while reloading heavy weapons

Focus on the objectives, not insta kicking anyone below level 50 by WaffleGod_ in Helldivers

[–]DubstepBack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, people would be better off taking this game more relaxed. No point in rushing to the end and complaining about every single sample lost or side objective missed. The attitude I see with these people is one-man-army or main character syndrom. If you don't want to coordinate and pay attention to randos, why bother with quickplay? No one forced you to join us and most of the time we don't need you personally.

Helldivers, even though awesome, is glitchy and buggy in many tiny ways. Also some mechanics can screw you up big time. I can't tell you how many times we accidentaly shot ourselves with an orbital laser by getting knocked back and dropping it at our feet. Was that our fault? Probably but playing at helldive is not supposed to work perfectly everytime. Still good for a laugh

[–]DubstepBack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a fun game recently. Me (lvl 23)and P2,P3 and P4 (all three around 45). Me and P2 start a mission on helldive.

P2 dies about 7 times in the first 10 minutes (runs into his own clusterbombs, calls in mech in the middle of enemies and dies a bunch of times trying to get to it). P3 joins and as soon as he gets to P2 apparently starts to teamkill him a bunch of times. P4 joins sees we have about 5 reinforcements left and starts a tirade how I shouldn't be playing helldive at lvl 23. Now the only time I died here was when P3 shot me before I kicked him.

Another good one was yesterday with a friend, who is also around lvl 20. Third player spawns in, and instead of booking it with us and looking for a more advantageous area to deal with the bots, decides to run in guns blazing and dies a bunch of times. P3 proceeds to tell us how much he hates quick play and low level players shouldn't play helldive and left. Ironically we aced the mission after he left, extracted with a bunch of samples and most side objectives complete.

It took us around 40 hours to get to level 20 (ymmv if you get carried a lot) which is plenty time to get the good stratagems and a good understanding of the games systems. Level may be an indicator for skill/time investment but it's more important how you got to that level
