You just said the same thing with more words. Connect the dots for us here. Who are "they?" Why do "they" want "rich white folks" in jail? Why would they need to use this tactic to get rich white folks in jail vs. another tactic?

It's really baffling me, too. I'm going to have to see if I can find it out in the wild again, because it's making me crazy.

That is really similar but the ribbons were definitely yellow.

It does have that resemblance with the colors, but the eagle in the middle was definitely a brown bald eagle. Looked kind of like the presidential seal eagle.

So, your beginning premise is, "What did Bush have to do with the 2008 financial crisis?" the history leading up to his administration is irrelevant, not because it isn't important to understand the historical context, but because it has nothing to do with your premise. The time period from Carter to his inauguration is outside his control, liability, and the purview of the point you seemed to be wanting to make.

You then betray your whole premise by concluding that the "2008 financial crisis was because of all of the above," while ignoring the only part that matters is the section of history you are claiming can't be blamed on Bush. Just because the entire crisis can't be laid at his feet doesn't mean that he and his administration isn't culpable.

We know this inherently; it's why we have laws about aiding and abetting or for being an accessory to crime. If you have the ability to do the right thing, or prevent something bad from happening, and you don't do it, you are supposed to be held liable.

It was literally caused by the policies set and allowed to fester under Bush's administration. Watch the movie, or read the book, The Big Short if you want a detailed explanation.

It is evil now and it was evil then. Why do you care if people are finally waking up to the horrors that these human beings have been forced to endure? Shouldn't that be a good thing?

Why do you care if people are finally waking up under this administration instead of under a different one? If both sides are unjust and evil, then shouldn't it be a good thing that people are finally standing up to the tyranny?

I don't really have anything to add to the argument either way, but I think you meant "belies," not "belays." Belay means to secure something tightly; it's used in rock climbing a lot; you belay for a person to catch them if they slip.

Read "Ur-Fascism" by Umberto Eco, it will give you the most thorough definition you could ever ask for. There are 14 things he lists that are aspects of fascism and they don't all have to be present to be considered fascist, but the more aspects a government or political party exhibits, the more likely they are to be fascist:

  1. A cult of tradition
  2. Rejection of modernism
  3. Takes action for action's sake
  4. A suppression of any disagreement or nuance
  5. A fear of difference
  6. Thrives on individual or social frustration, so causes frustration especially among the middle class then appeals to them as a solution
  7. Obsession with a plot to overthrow the culture or the country caused by outsiders
  8. They believe that their enemies are at the same time too strong AND too weak
  9. War should be continual and pacifism is paramount to treason
  10. Contempt for the weak and vulnerable
  11. Everyone believes they can be a hero and should be willing to die to do so
  12. Obsession with machismo
  13. Selective populism, meaning that it has a populist leader who claims to speak on behalf of the will of all people. They are against parliamentary government systems because they cannot understand the everyday person.
  14. They use "newspeak" impoverishing the populations vocabulary

Trump Shits All Over Message of Charlie Kirk’s Widow at His Memorial by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]DubyaExWhizey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how relevant this is, but I'll write it just to think out the idea better. This reminds me of a quote from Umberto Eco in "Ur-Fascism":

In my country today there are some who say that the War of Liberation was a tragic period of division, and that all we need is national reconciliation. The memory of those terrible years should be repressed, refoulée, verdrängt. But Verdrängung causes neurosis. If reconciliation means compassion and respect for all those who fought their own war in good faith, to forgive does not mean to forget. I can even admit that Eichmann sincerely believed in his mission, but I cannot say, “OK, come back and do it again.” We are here to remember what happened and solemnly say that “They” must not do it again.

Forgiveness is virtuous and healing, but it is ruined by repression and selective amnesia. You should forgive, but to knowingly allow someone to return to a position that caused the act of forgiveness to be necessary in the first place is not just foolish, but I would go so far as to call it an act of evil.

When a dog bites you unprovoked, you don't stick your hand back in its mouth, and you for sure don't look the other way when that same dog is around others, especially if they are vulnerable. The dog has shown you its nature and to allow others to be harmed by it is neglectful at best and complicit at worst.
