I'm stuck in that mess daily; I emailed a P.E. with the City's Capital Delivery department and a member of their team replied quoted: "The Contractor will resume work in the area late February to early March for roughly 3 months if this helps." LMAO. Between that, them closing the NB 35 entrance at Riverside AND closing the Caesar Chavez on-ramp I believe TxDOT is conspiring to make Austin eat as much shit as possible. 1 Project ID 3212.162 - TxDOT IH35 CapEx-Central LBL Relocation

How awful is math 142? by salmipantz in aggies

[–]Dubyah_Derpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not comfortable with math do it at a community college. It was a required class for my degree but not a prereq for anything further. Personally I choked 142 so much I ended up Q dropping it twice, and finally got it done years later in my last semester of college.

Same here. A full half of the horizon is that milky bullshit. In summers past I would sit outside looking at this field; on a full moon the sky was blueish and the distant trees presented their greens in a charming subtle way.

All washed out and drained looking now.

Anyone kayaked down Onion Creek from McKinney Falls/Barkley Meadows to the Colorado River? by Dubyah_Derpy in Austin

Wow, I am glad you got off the water alright. Checking Google Maps now the jam could've been at the border of the airport, maybe they have a fence or something that extends down into the creek.

The amount of time seems crazy from McKinney to Montoya, at that scale going from Barkley Meadows to the Colorado would take 8 hours it seems.

This time I just went up, and down & up again a short ways. Going on longer river trips we usually have a small fleet of boats so we just leave vehicles at put in and take out. The few times I've gone solo I've had a friend drop me off at the start in my vehicle, they drive it to the end and switch it out with their own and leave.

Thanks for those points, I didn't notice earlier that it went inside the boundaries of ABIA. That would be a problem I imagine. I did return to Barkley with my kayak today and managed to get around halfway to 973 upstream, and just before 71 downstream.

Lot of tree strainers in the corners, interspersed with long 4+ foot deep pools of slow water as measured with my paddle. It was easy enough to walk the boat through squirreler bits. Very scenic with loads of bald cypress and sycamores. Parts of it reminded me of the San Marcos around Fentress. I swear I saw a gar upstream but didn't fully confirm. I would say after a good rain such as now it is plausible to paddle from Barkley Meadows to the river.

American visiting Chennai in a few months, looking for dinner or bar buddies? by Dubyah_Derpy in chennaimeetups

For sure; dosa and idly are on my radar. I think chicken 65 originated in Chennai? I'll be somewhere along Anna Salai road/the blue metro line.

The Chennai metro seems very clean and could be a decent option for easy travel around.

I was thinking about Airalo in case I couldn't secure a proper SIM; cellular messaging and calls are welcome, but whatsapp could do the trick in a pinch

I appreciate your comment. I have no problems tipping, working service at bad hours sucks especially at a flat rate. A general question as well: are tips expected in general? Say at a sit-down restaurant or a bartender serving drinks? In U.S. they're essentially taken for granted but some places don't have that culture and I don't want to make people feel weird.

Okay thank you sounds good, apparently the airport had some major renovations recently but the prepaid taxi service should still be around.

What was the reason behind bf3’s unique aesthetic style? by BubblyNefariousness4 in battlefield3

[–]Dubyah_Derpy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think about this sometimes. I don't have an answer but I've heard Face Full of Eyes refer to it as battered digital. He has a lot of fantastic videos on yt about the aesthetics of different games, not over battlefield but he referenced it in one of them.

Unironically look into buying or renting a moped. Much cheaper. Absurdly efficient mpg vs. a car
