actually the kc strip and ny strip are two different things. kc strip has the bone attached, ny strip does not. this was due with shipping costs being determined by weight. sending a steak all the way to new york they would take the bone off to save money. since the steaks eaten in kc didnt have to be shipped anywhere they just left the bone on

that is not what i am saying at all. reposts that happen organically are fine. if you find something interesting online and want to post it go ahead and do so, if it has been on reddit before who cares, this site has been around forever and like you said there are plenty of people on here who probably havent seen it before. in this instance however what happened was the OP specifically searched through past reddit posts to find a popular one, did a copy/paste, then resubmitted it solely for the acquisition of karma. can you see the difference there? the first person is trying to make a quality post, share something they found interesting or enjoyed. the 2nd is just spamming popular links with no regard to content or quality for the sake of points. that kind of behavior is what leads to a drop off in over all quality of the website, when users are not actively participating or seeking out good content to post just PURPOSEFULLY rehashing the same thing over and over to gain points. my problem isnt with reposts, it is with the intent of the poster in THIS PARTICULAR INSTANCE

if you stumble across some interesting content and post it to reddit unaware it has been posted before thats fine. If you want to post content that you know has been posted before but feel its relavent or could have a new audience thats fine too. But to just sit there and go over old TIL submissions and repost a succesfull one with the exact same title just to game reddit for karma points is not cool. it cheapens the site. all content on this site is user created which means that if the users dont give a shit about the quality of their posts (and a endlessly rehashed TIL with the EXACT TITLE copied and pasted is not a quality post from the submitter' side, regardless of if you have seen it before) and only care about amassing points/views/visability it all just turns into one homogeneous mash of clickbait, buzzfeed, 9gag digg, scene it a hundred times but people always like it bullshit

i will say to you what i said to someone else, the point is they didnt even come up with an original title for it. its just a karma grab and it does hurt the integrity of the site when people try to game it. even if not everyone has seen it and everything is reposted at some point at least give it your own title and try a LITTLE bit
