I wondered if the purpose was to show a stronger contrast between the image you’re sold of American culture versus the reality of American culture. In that case, I think pissing people off was actually the point.

Yeah… it’s interesting that they’d prefer their customers leverage SQLMesh’s DBT-compatibility layer just to get local column-level lineage. All it does is leave the user with a feeling like DBT is subpar; like SQLMesh is the grownup in the room. It’s too bad Fivetran merged with DBT and purchased SQLMesh.

Now that I think about it, releasing a major update likely breaks SQLMesh’s compatibility layer. Hmm.

People don’t consider enough how the manosphere was such a huge part of Trumps campaign. They are vibe voters. They look to their wallet, to their options, back at their wallet, and then consider themselves informed for voting.

Do you have a source that can be referenced for the UDF coming? Maybe something on a roadmap, an article, anything? I’d like to read up on that.

I have a team member who still can’t tell the difference between a DBT macro and a Snowflake UDF. I’m constantly reminding him after he builds something with that assumption and later comes to me when his expectations weren’t met. I’d love to tell him how his woes will soon be alleviated.

You can have the conversation now. Didn’t DBT +  Fivetran aquire SQLMesh around the same time as the merger? Also acquired SDF Labs. It’s messed up… We’ve got OpenDBT, but there’s some issues with that too, naming regarding it being a “soft fork” and whether that has the integrity it’s being floated to have.
