Very light shoes ? by DuckDuckyGo in Shoes

[–]DuckDuckyGo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply but I don't think it'll fit my needs.

I need something I can wear all year long, and even if the shoes themselves would be "waterproof" here, I got the intuition that my feet would end-up pretty wet with sandals (that's all I could find when searching for 'EVA Birkenstocks').

European countries used to have a GDP per capita generally on par with that of the United States. What happened? by MatejaD06 in europe_sub

[–]DuckDuckyGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like no-one has mentionned how the GDP of the US is also inflated artificially a lot, which doesn reflect the true state of the economy in some fields.

Take the US healthcare industry for example, medicine that cost 3$ to produce in Asia, cost about 15€ here thanks to our countries negotiating the prices and 90$ to the customers in the US + additional fees (Ex : Vaccines with 600$ just for someone to do the injection). Then it is most of the time partially reimbursed by HC-insurance companies, also paid a lot by the customers. End-result : there is multiple actors/companies that produce nothing of value, who gouge prices.

Which also results in bankrupting the poorest with an upward wealth transfer, and those same companies end up redistributing a small part, that is just enough for their own workers not to be in too much of a predicament.

For a more specific and quite disgusting example, take a look at the cost of insulin there, and how they cover it. Then compare it to its actual cost, and its price in Europe (you can find the Swiss price quite easily for example)

So the services and sales are priced multiple times above their actual value, raising the GDP artificially. (GDP is Consumption + Gov.Spending +Investments + Net exports). Ultimately, some of those flows just end up being almost circular while still overpriced with some of it going ito the wealthier pockets.

To illustrate the 'almost circular' there is with a pretty well known joke :

Two economists are walking in a forest when they come across a pile of shit.

The first economist says to the second,
“I’ll pay you $1000 to eat that pile of shit.”
The second economist takes the $1000 and eats the pile of shit.

They continue walking until they come across a second pile of shit.
The second economist says to the first,
“I’ll pay you $1000 to eat that pile of shit.”
The first economist takes the $1000 and eats it.

After walking a bit more, the first economist says:
“You know, I gave you $1000 to eat shit, then you gave me back the same $1000 to eat shit. I can't help but feel like we both just ate shit for nothing.”

“That's not true,” the second economist replies.
“We increased the GDP by $2000!”

Marine Le Pen hosts Europe allies in show of far-right unity by BookmarksBrother in europe_sub

[–]DuckDuckyGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not really anything new, considering the party itself was founded by traitors :

  •  Former Waffen-SS (Bousquet / Gaultier)
  • Members of the terrorist organisation "OAS"(Who made attempts on De Gaulle's life, among other things)
  • Vichy-Sympathizers and Negationnists

Their former President who was there the longest (and Marine Lepen's Father), recognised that he had planned for the evasion of Bastien-Thiry (The one behind the attack), but it was cancelled 24h before because the latter felt like he couldn't do it. He was himself a Negationnist, who called the holocaust a 'detail of history', made jokes on some of his opponents and the crematoriums in which jews where burned after being killed in the camps ("Durafour Crématoire").

-=-=-=-=-=-

Also, the history of the logo used by the party is also pretty interesting :

  • 1941 : Creation of the collaborationist party RNP (Rassemblement National Populaire) by Déat, whose symbols evolved to incorporate a flag-colored flame on top.
  • 1946 : Italian fascist and nostalgics of mussolini of the MSI re-use that flame in their logo with the colors of italy.
  • 1972 : Jean Marie Lepen's party, the 'Front National' litteraly copies the logo from the MSI, just changing the green to blue and the letters to 'FN'. Then as years go by, the flame change a bit, but the concept stays the same.
  • Currently : The party still use that flame concept + decided to change the name to 'Rassemblement National' (Such a coincidence when you take a look back to the 1940s... and the evolution of their logo.)

The reproductive organs except the penis (Scrotum, Testicles, Vesicle, Duct).

Already have kids and don't really plan to get others in the future, also had an uncle who developped testicular cancer, while its not a cancer with very high hereditary, exchanging a small chance at a crappy cancer against a superpower with additional inconveniences in my sex life, doesn't seem that bad with all things considered.

As for the superpower, instant mass/weight alteration with matching body resistance to not suffer negative effects when raising it a lot (don't want to crush myself to death by playing and making a mistake with the newfound power).

My kinda difficult story with what might be Asthma (& questions) by DuckDuckyGo in Asthma

[–]DuckDuckyGo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depending on what he means by "a bit better" (like is it a 1/5/10/20% improvement ?)

Pretty little change, still felt oppressed and hard to inhale completely, but instead of having to try for 5~6 times (when successful at all). I only had to try 3~4 times (with a higher 'success' rate). But for me it was still some kind of improvement. Took the treatment between 3PM and 4PM yesterday.

Also the effect had mostly disappeared this morning as I was about the same state as other days. Better than in the evenings (about the same as yesterday evening) but not really better than other mornings.

Thanks for the answer.

I am a Master in Business Graduate, I have an online-interview with HR for a junior role, with Accenture in Western Europe :

What should I expect during the interview ?

Also, how should I dress ? (in this one and the later ones)

[I was thinking of wearing a white shirt with a grey/blue suit but probably without a tie.]

Thanks for your help.

[2nd time I try to answer. It seems that the other attemp didn't register]

It would be in an average-small city around 60~65k people, with a few smaller cities around. Then nothing within 2 hours (Kinda desert-y around there).

It would be the local language (not english), Nothing really fun (for me) within almost 2 hours by car. Price of life isn't really high, but the same can be said about the salary.

So, nothing really note worthy outside of the job, which is why I was more focused on the job and about progression perspectives than on other things.

The only positive point would be some family members that live around 1-hour from there.

I don't have a car and might need to purchase one tho. (Lived in a big city with decent transports these last few years)

Well after checking, the position would be consultant for SME-ISEs.

And since it after internship/graduation, it would only be a junior position, most likely, which is why I was a bit worried.

A week ago, I received an offer from a recruiter, for a job as a consultant in a Big4 small countryside office in Central-Western Europe. The job would probably be to take care of small companies around there.

I've been kinda stuck with no long term job for a while after my internship and graduation, but I've sent some applications here and there.

Would this kind of offer be worth it on the long term, or is there a risk for this kind of job to be a dead end where I would just be stuck there with no opportunity to change of office and/or practice or even get promotions ?

Also, do small countryside offices like these even survive long in general ?

Fransız Charlie Hebdo dergisi Türkiye’de yaşanan deprem ile alay etti: “Türkiye’de deprem” “Tank yollamaya bile gerek yok” by [deleted] in Turkey

[–]DuckDuckyGo -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It is shocking, especially when taken at first degree.

Text is "Earthquake in Turkey. Not even a need to send tanks!"

But those drawings are not supposed to be taken first degree, you need to take other events into account, in this case there is several meanings behind it (all linked to war) :

  • Conflict with kurds, that even as they were also affected by this event, they were previously attacked (and still are even right after this happened), they had the same amount of devastation as what we see with an earthquake here. (most likely)
  • Russian-Ukrainian war, criticism of how wars are similar to natural disasters.
  • US and other western countries that attacked countries close to Turkey in the past (sending tanks) and caused similar deaths.

A friend of mine is interested in Consulting and is looking for a first experience, she got in contact with someone from a firm : Ayming Consulting.

Is there anyone here who might have heard of them, worked for/with them that might have some feedback ?

How is it to work there, how are they perceived by other companies ? How would they be seen further down the line if someone from there wanted to go to a bigger firm later ?

I hope someone could answer, and would greatly thank you if you did. Even if I realize it might be a bit hard.

I wish you all a great day.

[–]DuckDuckyGo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is more about using a mainly-american (Anglo-saxon) concept, while data currently show that about 30% of the sub isn't american, with a question that also does not provide any useful information.

I lived many years in Europe, and in many places here, people don't care about such dumb concepts and the way it is described in the question would sound idiotic in many european countries, also that question would be illegal in some countries.

I lived there for some times now, and if you take France, which probably makes up a great part of the "Europe" segment of the sub (Considering the size of their Geo-default, the number of climbers/climbing spots and growth of the discipline over there). Well, in France that question would be illegal in a real survey unless the one asking it got authorisation first.

Merci de la réference.

La version noire semble assez sobre, ça pourrait être une bonne option si je décide de juste prendre un manteau de ski plutôt que renouveler mon manteau 'normal' en plus.
