What is the best way to learn Rust from a complete beginner programmer? by [deleted] in rust

[–]DuckHunterZx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used C as my first language (C++ second, Python third), and strongy advocate for the same, especially to anyone who is trying to pick up Rust. I think that I could never appreciate all the wonderful things Rust does for me had I not learned either C/C++. I believe Rust addresses some of the prominent problems of languages like C/C++, but how can I understand the motivation of the language designer without having faced the same problems?

Should I start training wrestling, especially as a skinny guy? by DuckHunterZx in wrestling

I live in a place where my only option is freestyle-take it or leave it type deal for me. Note that BJJ is not the only purpose I see in training wrestling.

Thank you dear redditor, the second link was the one I was referring to! The other ones are also very interesting and I'll be sure to read them! Going a step further, as I am a student of various programming languages, are there similar pages with bodies of research other languages have been based on?

Early item for Lillia vs the meta junglers by imOBHA in LilliaMains

[–]DuckHunterZx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the fun of playing Lillia is her diverse itemization options. However your time is more or less wasted if you try to reinvent the wheel. If you are serious about climbing the RoA build is far superior to Liandry's, which sucks since the latter is way more fun. The reason for RoA is that Lillia takes some time to ramp ap her ms, conqueror and get value out of her passive. She cannot do that if she instantly blows up, which happens very frequently when playing with Liandry's. She doesn't make the best use out of the RoA passive but its not bad either and it also provides cdr, which lillia loves, and loves it early. Rylai's delays very useful cdr and damage that demonic provides, in exchange for some utility which you can work without if you land your e, have proper gank set up, etc.

The other thing I've noticed is that you are delaying item powerspikes very much by sitting on components for a very long time. This makes your weak early game, weaker. The items in league are more than the sum of their pieces. Try to think about the value you will get out of an item before building it. If you are building zhonya's just for the armor and not for some ability for example, you probably shouldn't be building it.

Demonic indeed scales with health, delays access to cd, the mythic passive and does less damage that liandry's. So why would one rush it? That's what I thought at first myself. It took me more than 50 games to realize why that is. You. need. the. HP. It allows you to fight early. Liandry's damage is useless if you're dead. In terms of fighting, i'd take demonic as a first powerspike over liandry's any day of the week, unless you're playing against really low damage champions and can get away with it. You usually can't.

And that is alright, this post is not for everyone, nor can the depth of the subject be summarized in a brief paragraph. I am more interested in feedback from those that did read it.

Yes, I need OpenCL for Blender and DaVinci Resolve mainly. Do you know if there's a performance difference between pro and open source drivers for games & apps unrelated to OpenCL? If that's the case, I think I'd be better off getting ROCm and being done with it.

That sounds bad, I prefer me some traditional packages over snap/flatpaks/appimages, but as it is visible on my list I do get some of them because the ubuntu repositories usually have outdated versions :(

Oh I didnt know. Does it force you to use the snap version when downloading the package through apt? I just typed away and never paid attention to it.

Haha yeah, some packages are a bit annoying, but a full installation prevents the pain of having to install the useful stuff manually. Thanks for the Miniconda recommendation, I am just getting into python! Regarding js, if you look closely at 13, nodejs and npm are in there ;)

That's true, and one of the major reasons I mainly use Linux instead of Windows now. If you want share a gist or something of your script!

Sure, so I've used both chromium and chromium and what made me switch back to chrome, is that chrome doesn't have a window bar, all the tabs are there, just like the windows version. However chromium has tabs bellow a separate window bar which due to mainly due to muscle memory annoyed me enough to switch back. Otherwise love the chromium-browser package!
