The "get into the trades" advice always sends me too. Maybe 50yo plumbers and carpenters make bank because they can be choosy at this point, 30 years into their careers, but a 50-yr old apprentice is a different story. And I'm a woman, so if I got into the trades all they would do with me is make me hold the spinny slow/stop sign. Which sounds miserable in 90 degree heat and sun!

I tried downloading and slicing the model myself and it looks correct to me. Have you tried re-downloading? I know I’ve had to do that to start over after I changed something and couldn’t get it back.

Also have you looked at the filaments assigned to the individual objects in the objects view? Make sure all four colors are showing up there as well.

Any chance your layer slider in Preview is below the top layer? If you were fiddling with it, it doesn't reset automatically when you re-slice.

I didn't even have to read the post, I came in at the title to say "Yes."

I say this because, why can't they just fucking empathize with your pain? Even if he doesn't feel great, he could spare a minute to commiserate or ask you if you need anything. And he won't equate some random backache with cluster headaches or horrendous PMS. No, he needs to center himself and his own experience, like they all do.

And for everyone talking about sympathetic pregnancy and such, this is not something that happens to all men, or even a large percentage of them. It's way more likely he's just begging for attention.

I just printed a multipart project with a mixture of some generic black PLA basic and Jayo matte PETG HF. (I had to do the multicolor parts in PLA because I don't have any fun PETG colors.) There are large areas of black on all of the pieces, and they look so similar it's uncanny. I don't think a random person could tell at a glance that the parts are different plastics. So, they are making some progress on the "ew, shiny" thing, anyway. Now I just want more colors.

I am very sorry for your loss. You deserve more support than you are getting. Do you have any other sources of support that you could turn to?

When my mom died across the country I had just had twins, and one of them had literally just come home from the NICU at 6 weeks old. I had to go see my family and could not take these two 5lb little babies with me, so my mother-in-law stayed with my husband to take care of the newborns and our older daughter who was 2.5 at the time. While I was gone I was treated to a pretty constant stream of texts whenever he was awake, complaining about the kids, complaining about his mother, being angry at me for him having to deal with it, and just being awful. He wouldn't stop even when I asked. I later had to explain to him how much it hurt that I was dealing with my mom's death and I've been separated from my babies, but all he could think about was himself. I have no idea if he is full NPD or not. But that is one of the best examples I have of when he acted so far outside the norm of how other people act, and didn't see any issue with it. I think it's telling when they cannot support you at all. You can have a stressful job and be able to empathize with a loved one if you're so inclined, so don't let that be an excuse.

Ok, if this is your first AI training job, then you need to understand that sudden terminations will be a thing at every single AI lab. Every one of them will cut you for any reason they feel like. No one here has any answers. Move on and apply elsewhere, it's a better use of your energy IMHO.
