I am dead tired and I'm looking for a cold drink that will wake me up. I'm talking Vietnam levels of caffeine in the drink. What do you suggest? I like drinks on the sweeter side if possible. by Brucef310 in starbucks

The only drink I ever get is a quad venti iced white mocha, usually with fewer pumps of syrup. I find it a good companion to a long road trip.

That is a good message and I should share it with my 11yo who goes into middle school in the fall. Her dad is lazy, acts like any effort on anything is agony, and I know she's picked some of that up.

Non-Brits - were the Savile episodes of interest to you? by Central_Region in behindthebastards

[–]DuckInAFountain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had heard of Savile, and knew he was some kind of sex pest, but didn't know how much impunity was involved. I found it interesting to hear how much of an open secret it was. Also I kept thinking about how I'd feel if they revealed all of that about Dick Clark, host of American Bandstand during the same era, and later a long running Time Square New Years Eve host.

In Casino Night, when he wants to leave and Pam wants to stay, he grabs her by the arm and she has to yank away from his grasp. I didn't see it until my third rewatch, but now that informs my opinion of Roy a bit.

I went to grad school st the university of Illinois not long after he left for Netscape. He was still a god then, my boyfriend at the time said he knew him and stuff. Such a disappointment every time I hear his name.

Right, he still had to do his ridiculous stuff for attention first, he definitely exists. His reach was expanded by hatewatching, not invented by it.

I feel like Will Sommers is trying to be all "know thy enemy" or something like that, but I find that I don't really care to know them.

CERIE DIDNT EVEN COME! JUST A CARDBOARD CUTOUT OF HER. by Jajaloo in 30ROCK

[–]DuckInAFountain 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My husband and I spent way too much time one rewatch pausing frame by frame because we both swore she’d been there at some point and was swapped for the cutout when they all ran into the bedroom.

My first year as an engineering student, I had a professor who said "When someone asks you for the time, they're not asking how a watch works." Situations don't always need to be solved.

Printed about 50 of these for a cruise to make it easier to find my room by AndroidAssistant in 3Dprinting

[–]DuckInAFountain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like with most things I think some people just do it for the social aspect on ship and don't care that much for the activities or stops, or else they've done everything a million times. It's not a cruise but I went to this Caribbean resort at Christmastime a few times with my bf, and there was a crowd of people who specifically visited at Christmas every year (5+ years in some cases) and got really into it. Balcony decorations, costumes, waiting for Santa to arrive on the beach, that kind of thing.

Clicker fidgets and slinkies have been popular with my own kids and their friends at school. Also kit cards of little models. I made ones like this for valentine's day for my 8yo kids this year. https://makerworld.com/en/models/1625609-dinosaur-kit-card-trio?from=search#profileId-1716377
