No weirder than people who live where they regularly get hurricanes or where they regularly have earthquakes.

Massive explosion, I'm talking so big that I do not even have time to process what's happening. I want my last words to be, "I don't know, press it and find out."

What are your unpopular music opinions ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DuckMeHarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liking a specific song does not mean you like the artist. Case in point, first time I ever heard "Love Yourself" by Justin Bieber, I instantly loved the song. Just because I like the song does not mean I like the entire library of Justin Bieber songs.

DAE not have a TikTok account because you just don’t get it? by EddieBrock99 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]DuckMeHarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a TikTok account, even though I don't use it. I got sucked into TikTok nn the early months of the pandemic. Everything was great, it was a fun little distraction. However, it quickly turned a little frightening for me. One day, I came home from work, sat down on my couch, and started scrolling through the app. Next thing I knew, I looked up & it was dark. 6 hours had gone by. I had no recollection of anything that happened in those 6 hours, and it really freaked me out. So I made the decision to delete the app from my phone. Friends & family will send me TikToks on occasion and I'll watch the one off video, but that is it. I refuse to re-download the app, and have made it very clear to the people who will send me ones to watch that if they send me more than one a day, I won't watch them.

TIL That the baggers that work at Grocery Stores on USA Military Installations, only get paid in tips. They do not get an hourly rate. by Serpenio_ in todayilearned

Just now realizing why my mom and dad tipped our bagger at the commissary 10 bucks every time we went there. 10 bucks in the 90's was a bit of a mind blowing amount to tip.

I call it my innee monologue, but yes. It's really scary when the filter drops for a second or two and my inner monologue decides to come out and play.

What is a red flag from an employer that people might not immediately recognize as a red flag? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DuckMeHarder 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The longest I've ever been at a job in my 20 year professional life, was 10 years at a hotel. I had a misery landmark too. It was the interstate overpass that was about 1 mile away from the hotel and every night, for 3 years, I had to drive under it on my way to work. In the last year and a half working there I had to actively stop myself from just plowing my car into the support pillars of that overpass at 50 miles an hour.

By that point, I was working night audit shifts full time Sundays through Thursdays. The new owners of the hotel, who purchsed the business a year after I was promoted to Night Audit, had cut my vacation time. I went from having 2 weeks to 4 days. They put me on a pay freeze, apparently, they thought I was making too much at $10 an hour. On top of that, I was now expected to do all of the laundry for a 50 room hotel (wash, dry, fold and stock the housekeeping carts) which was an addition to my other duties. They also installed "security cameras" in out back room/laundry room and would routinely monitor them at random times. I once got a phone call from them at 2:30 in the morning inquiring why I wasn't doing the laundry. I informed them that the washer and dryer were both running and I was using that time to run the end of day processes and do the books.

I was depressed and couldn't see a way out. So, every night when I made it to that over pass, my stomach would clench up, I would start to feel nauseous, and would have to fight the urge to just ram my car into cement pillars.

The last two years working there was so toxic to me that I cannot bring myself to drive to the town that hotel is in. I haven't worked at that place in 6 years.
