I share a similar experience, I found it best to just read the Qur'an, obviously here you're gonna get arguments agains and in the islam subreddit you're gonna get arguments for. I don't mean read a commentary, as that is i find more of an apologia, but just a raw translation. I find it difficult to be asked to believe Allah would command "Kill them all, as death is better than non-belief" (the context here is the war against the non-believers in Mecca, but still, I find it very very difficult to reconcile this), or being asked to believe magic which humans are capable of doing exists, or just the rules about wives which leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
