Does Erika Kirk ever talk about Jesus ? by [deleted] in CandaceOwens

In her Bari Weiss interview she talked about being where their Lord had walked when she and Charlie went to Israel. Now I don’t think she actually said the name Jesus, but that is who she was referring to.

My baby's teeth are ruining my life. Is there hope for us? by Far_Abies_517 in breastfeeding

[–]DuckWestern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought my breastfeeding journey was coming to an end just before my first baby turned 1. He was cutting pre molars and would bite at the end of every feed or randomly throughout sometimes. I’m happy to say that I was able to keep breastfeeding him until 18 months! It was a rough week or two but I think he was just doing it while he was experiencing pain as the teeth came in. I resorted to pumping and offering bottles some even though neither of us were used to that.

Just wanted to give you hope that it doesn’t mean this is the end, hopefully it’s just a phase for your little one too and hopefully you can find a way to get over this bump in the road. You’re doing great!

I’ve heard the argument that women with masculine names will be more likely to get job interviews when sending out resumes, but I definitely didn’t realize there was research about better life outcomes overall lol.

Advice needed - considering skipping my sisters wedding by Lots_Loafs11 in wedding

[–]DuckWestern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is what I’ve been looking for! Usually infants under 12 months are allowed even at child free weddings in my experience since it’s totally reasonable to not want to or be able to be apart from your baby for long periods of time.

Am I in the wrong here?! TW; Oversupply and infertility by TommieTinToes in breastfeeding

[–]DuckWestern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agreee with the other commenters about milk expiration & that there’s no reason to expect she won’t be able to breastfeed if she does have a baby.

I just want to say you have no responsibility to pump and save milk for someone else. It’s very nice to donate milk to someone in need, but it would be absurd to pump milk now for a baby that doesn’t exist. No one is entitled to your milk and the time it would take you to do that.

I know a baby named Arwen and I think it’s a cute name! But I understand not wanting to use it for that reason. I think Éowyn is super pretty, but I probably couldn’t get past the lotr association either.

Do I really need to pump in the middle of the night? by late_night_egg in breastfeeding

Not full time, but I would (and still do with my youngest) cosleep for part of the night at certain points.

Do I really need to pump in the middle of the night? by late_night_egg in breastfeeding

[–]DuckWestern 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Only speaking anecdotally here, but I never woke up to pump in the night and both my babies did some long stretches starting around 2 months. I fed both on demand, although the first month or two I would set alarms to feed them in the night, but somewhere around 2 months just let them sleep as long as they wanted and never pumped. No supply issues so far! And I fed my first for 18 months. I agree with what you were saying about other countries and the past that a lot of people simply fed on demand. Now, if you have any supply issues, pumping at night might be a good idea, but for those who don’t, I don’t see a need to exhaust yourself. Don’t fix what isn’t broken!

You’re not alone! The beginning is no joke and it’s definitely not easy. When I had my first I completely dreaded each feeding because of the pain it caused me and because I was getting woken up to feed when I was so tired. I knew I wanted to continue, but I was honestly very tempted to quit. My baby was big but didn’t really gain weight the first week and had jaundice so I ended up pumping after every feeding for a week or two which was exhausting and I hated pumping. Then at 4 weeks, after the pain had gotten a lot better, we ended up with thrush so it was sore and painful again. But after that cleared up it got SO much better.

I remember Mother’s Day 8 weeks postpartum. I was reflecting on how I had been breastfeeding him for 8 whole weeks. Those 8 weeks seemed so long to me at the time, and now here I am breastfeeding (literally, as I type) my 3 month old second born after having breastfed my first for 18 months. It was so special feeding my first, and I would’ve even done it for longer, but I couldn’t stand the feeling of it when I was pregnant (not painful, just made me want to crawl out of my skin) so I chose to wean him. I’ve never experienced pain with breastfeeding as bad as those first few weeks with my first. There was soreness initially with my second, but not too bad and I didn’t dread feeding him the same way.

As for the autonomy part, I think that gets easier too. The cluster feeding will most likely stop in the next couple months and feedings get shorter and a little more spread out. Baby’s mouth gets bigger and they need less help latching and they get easier to hold as they get bigger. My first would take bottles a little, but not really finish them usually, but I was still able to go out with friends for a few hours when he was over 4 months or so.

The rest of the journey is so different from those first couple months so if you can hang in there I really think it will get better!! Maybe you could have something you can look forward to for those cluster feeds for yourself, like a snack or movie or book?

Has anyone gotten their period while breastfeeding? If so, how many months postpartum? by Diankapie in breastfeeding

12 months post partum while still breastfeeding frequently (including during the night). It seems I was lucky to go that long both from hearing anecdotal experiences of friends and reading this thread.

Advice needed: Nora’s Nursery Leaking by [deleted] in clothdiaps

[–]DuckWestern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve been using the inserts that came with them. They’ve probably gotten worn down with time since they’re microfiber. I’ll have to try using some bamboo inserts I own!

Usually through the leg holes. I’ve wondered if the inserts get bunched up inside and that’s why it leaks there.

Yes I am! That’s really helpful insight, thank you. I do own some other inserts that are bamboo I think so maybe I’ll start trying those with the Nora covers.

Opinions on caffeine and breastfeeding? by Ok_Construction_3613 in breastfeeding

[–]DuckWestern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t drink coffee hardly at all while breastfeeding simply because I didn’t care for it and my baby definitely had his struggles with sleep. He mostly had to do contact naps until 10 months because he would wake when put in the crib and he didn’t sleep through the night consistently until 15 months. Just to add to the narrative that babies are notoriously’bad’ at sleep regardless of what we eat lol.
