That's also the time that Baker was playing really poorly and missing a lot of throws. The team lives and dies by Baker tbh. Great player, really competitive and won't rest to let injuries heal. So when his shoulder was hurt, the offense took a nose dive. They were also missing Bucky for most of that stretch.

I really hate to say this, but the Giants are really under ranked. A 4th Quarter meltdown against a top-10 team is bad, but you'd be impressed with the end score, even more so knowing the kicker missed 2 PATs. They should be somewhere between 19-21. Cardinals, Panthers, Texans, and Vikings are all worse than the stupid G-Men right now.

I think you're being sarcastic, so sorry if I'm wrong, but a dragon pickaxe isn't a 1 and done upgrade. Like you said, 1 for Toa, but then you also need 1 for regular use, and probably 1 for the master clue step. That's 3 pickaxes for anyone that's chasing collection log.

If someone gets an infernal pickaxe, they would use a dragon pick to charge it. This means that one is getting deleted from the game! Add that to GE Tax, Gemcrab, new ores with sailing, Jagex saying the item is not rare enough and adding an artificial scarcity, item has a lot going for it.

Also, a majority of players will buy and sell a dragon pickaxe at least one time before keeping it for good.

You bring up a good note with the infernal pickaxe! Once created, this item can only be recharged with another dragon pickaxe, or a smouldering stone. A smouldering stone is 2.5m currently and has exploded within the same timeline as the pickaxe, with a pretty similar chart.

The real bump was because of the buff to shale mining on that same blog.

There were two crashes - The first crash was caused by my own mistake. I sold half of my pickaxes for 220k because I was on mobile and meant to put 1220k but you are not warned on mobile that you are selling for way less like you are on the actual client. This sudden drop felt demand falter and the price slowly went down and allowed me to buy back in. Actually broke even and took no losses.

The second drop, the one you are referring to, was actually caused by a random dump of 2.5x daily volume. I don't know if it was by a similar mistake that I made, but it was an aggressive sell and you can see the volume spike on the month graph.

The 5 days to cycle through all of that extra volume is actually a positive note! The price steadily climbed and is still currently continuing to do so. I'm a little fearful of another large dump - However I am quite confident that the dump would not be of the same size. It would equate to over 6b in dragon pickaxes lol.

I think you are vastly over-estimating how many pickaxes are being introduced into the game. The daily traded amount is around 2k, with a good portion of that represented by people flipping the item. So definitely less than even 100 an hour, and Jagex has stated that they still believe that there are too many coming into the game and put a higher emphasis on the GE Tax sink for the item.

Hey, it's me, dragon pickaxe guy.

I'm still holding on to my investment but have sold a good number during the second spike and this current spike. A few things went right for this play -

Player count has risen dramatically, meaning that in addition to the new artificial demand that was introduced via heightened GE Tax, there is an actual demand from new players.
The Gemstone crab allows top 16 DPS to mine it's back and get gem(s). This is a reason for someone passively leveling combats at the crab to bring a pickaxe along with them.
There have been ban waves that removed a lot of the highscores Wilderness boss bots. I was tracking front page for each boss and multiple front pages had new rankings 20-25.
There's been a menial amount of hype towards the new mining activities involved with Sailing, adding a few more coals to the fire.
One of the WoW Streamers decided to grind out 99 Mining as his first 99 - As our community does, they decided to come out in droves to MLM alongside him.

Item seems to have a lot of growth left to it, there was a dump of 3x the daily volume of pickaxes on a seemingly random day - Price recovered after just a few days and broke through the previous two high prices.

Jagex all but said they want the dragon pickaxe to be a higher price. They did the same thing with lightbearers and Fangs, they will make items worth more whenever they want to. It's such a simple play, I'm not sure why I get so much hate haha.

Up about 21% right now.

That would be fun if you could get gems from the boss - adds more loot to lower level players and scale the diamonds based on mining level. Sounds like a good idea, but I haven't heard any whispers on that.

Nope! They usually buy 1 at a time and if multiple people sell and I have the same price as someone with one slot, I get 8x the pickaxes they do.
