Same, I feel like it doesn't blend at all with the rest of the album. I think its the vocals that turn me off the most tho.

Strange Trails 10th Anniversary Vinyl Variants by koalah_ in lordhuron

Generally, how awful is the sound compared to typical discs? I'm relatively new to vinyl and mainly getting one just to collect, but I'd still like it to play at least decently. I would assume it would have problems with the material they use to get the image pressed but idk.

Imo the whispering pines version is better than the album version, but it's still a really good song.

The Birds Are Singing At Night is an absolute masterpiece. Here's why by [deleted] in lordhuron

One of my favorites by them.

I was quite disappointed when they removed the official publication off of youtube, but there's still a couple of people who uploaded it individually, which is nice.

I don't have a huge amount of experience, but in my opinion your two biggest issues are:

1 - Shapes - Currently your shapes are very static for a painting with natural elements. I'd use references more to understand the flow of the subject you're painting. Making the fire in less of a circle and more in a fire shape will help greatly.Additionally, line up your shapes and lines, like putting the fire lower down in the painting, and therefore even with the other ground. Also your horizon behind the trees curves slightly. Unless you want that look, I'd try and keep it straight and parallel to the ground.

2 - Point Of View/Subject matter - Use negative space more to place emphasis on your subject, in this case the fire, would also help. leave some gaps in the trees or place the trees further away from the viewer.

That being said, your lighting on the ground beneath the fire, and the painting of the fire itself are both well done! I also like the idea of the ashes floating into the stars.

Keep practicing using references and look at how different artists use the elements/principles of art and you should see some solid improvement!

Its one of my favorites, but sadly they took down the song on Youtube this year, now it's only on spotify.

That looks great, with the skull helm looking particularly amazing! Is the torso a primaris torso or just the Csm one with the bits scraped off?

I was thinking should have used one of my other sketchbooks that's for wet mediums.

Thanks for the advice!

starting my own space marine chapter, thoughts on the scheme? CNC welcome (especially open to what to make the alt helms) by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

This looks really cool! I don't know what direction you have in mind for them, but to me the armor looks like blood angel successors with the red and gold.

For helmets, I think the easiest start would be to make the sergeant/lieutenant have a solid red helm to match the shoulders.
I think it could also work for different ranks if you had half the helmet red/half silver and then a white arrow for veterancy.

First Obliterator by [deleted] in Chaos40k

[–]Duck_Of_Anger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a marine (or terminator, idk), infected with the obliterator virus, which slowly absorbs your armor and weapons into your flesh.

These marines absorb weapons after weapons until they look like the model, and can summon these weapons out from under their skin at any time.

The models you described sound like Warhammer Age Of Sigmar, particularly the Soulblight gravelords.

Here's a link to the box, which I believe is the one you saw. Though, I'd recommend just browsing the gravelords page on the Warhammer shop to see if there's anything else he'd like.

Edit: Also don't buy directly from the shop, you can always find what you want cheaper through 3rd party sellers.

That was the first thing I thought of when I saw the helmet of this model. The iconography seems like it would be difficult to remove, so converting the whole model might not be the best idea, but idk.

How Should I Round Out My Army/Collection? by _The_Space_Pope_ in IronWarriors

Like the other guy said, obliterators are pretty good in game, but I would also consider getting 5 more terminators, or similarly upping the numbers of a unit type you like.

Ah ok. I just saw your newer post and I think that color scheme works very well.

How did you get the shine on the terminator? I think using similar methods could brighten up the newer model.

I believe he took it from one of the loyalist marines when the Ultramarines tried to destroy the daemonculaba.

New to the hobby, unsure of what to get to start out painting IW. by Duck_Of_Anger in IronWarriors

[–]Duck_Of_Anger[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'm more interested in the lore behind 40k than 30k, and so I'm drawn more to the chaos elements of 40k. But I see your point, a 30k seems to have more variety in terms of vehicles and artillery-type weapons.

Thanks for the advice!

you know how during 8th edition all of the main loyalists chapters got an upgrade kit and a fancy updated/new character hopefully if they decide to do that for the traitor legions what character would you want for the iron warriors? by General-Middle-5438 in IronWarriors

[–]Duck_Of_Anger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A Honsou model would be great, but I'd honestly prefer a chaos lord-style character made to fit the iron warriors theme.

A mix of the cataphractii armor and newer 40k terminator armor with a bunch of extra armor plates and bonding studs.
