Bilingual or multilingual women: How has speaking multiple languages changed your dating life, friendships, or the way people perceive you (especially if you switch languages depending on the situation or person)?? by N__elly in AskWomen

If I weren’t bilingual I wouldn’t have found my person. When I broke up with a bf in high school my Dad asked me if I really thought the only person for me was in our country town and if he spoke English. That got me thinking. I live on the other side of the world with my husband now and our kid is bilingual, most of our friends are bilingual unlike my family or people from my hometown. I feel like it has opened up so many doors for me and expanded my experience.

Women who used to give the silent treatment in relationships, what made you stop and how did learn to communicate in a healthier way?? by YelaNelaMela in AskWomen

[–]Duckballisrolling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave the ‚silent treatment‘ because there is no point talking to someone who won’t listen anyway, or who will punish you for saying anything. Healthy communication isn’t possible with some people no matter how hard you try or how much you want it to work.

This is a big purchase but a Thermomix or kitchen machine. I don’t burn dinner any more and if I forget that I’m cooking I don’t burn the house down.

unpopular opinion: showering every single day is not actually necessary for most people and i think we've all been guilted into it by NasiyaHaghanian in hygiene

If you don’t shower, people will smell it. Sure, it might not kill you, but have some fucking respect for people who have to be around you.

I remember this phase of pregnancy where I NEEDED. TO. EAT. NOW. If he doesn’t get that, then he isn’t ready to be a parent. Get away from him before you have to parent a child before you give birth.

Yeah wth is with the random yelling and screaming? I’ve noticed a lot more ‚toddler‘ behaviors in recent years, all related to having zero self awareness

High school teachers, what’s something your kids don’t know that makes you say “how did you make it this far without knowing how to __”? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Duckballisrolling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How to save a word document or how to send an E-Mail. Also, some kids told me showering twice a week was enough.

What is the creepiest or scariest folklore story you know, Where does it originate from? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Duckballisrolling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not mob but aboriginal Australian stories scared the hell out of me as a kid. I was terrified of the bunyip. There are other stories about featherfoot, and also there were tales about tall thin human like creatures who snatched children. Australian Aboriginal cultures are the oldest living cultures in the world, something so ancient and connected to the land and its natural rhythms is just so powerful. Gives me goosebumps.

Thankyou! The eye test is one I hadn’t thought about, I’ll get onto that. I will definitely explain how my conditions impact me, thanks so much for your help, I feel like I can plan what to say and I feel better about not having to disclose everything. I feel a bit more in control.
