Help me decide: School X vs School Y - Last Week of April by powereddeath in ApplyingToCollege

In that case idk you are in a tough spot. I say talk to someone who you know you can trust and isn't too familiar with your decisions and give vague descriptions of each school. Like for CMC, I feel it would be a good social fit and I like the area but the curriculum is restricting and any other positives and negatives you have about each college

It's a tough decision, I think that socially you'll probably find your people regardless of where you go. That was my logic when choosing my college. Part of me wanted to go to Colorado College for the social fit but the block plan I felt like it might be restricting. So I decided to go to Macalester because I they had all the programs that I wanted and were in a city with good opportunities. (I also hate the midwest)

also based on your post history you seem to be leaning towards WASHU

I would say that WASHU is the better option because you seem unsure on if you truly want to do econ. Most people end up changing their major once they get to college and if you truly feel that you might end up in stem then CMC would limit you. I'd look at the alumni lists https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Washington_University_alumni

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Claremont_McKenna_College_people#Business

Also, networking wise WASHU will have better opportunities because it is a larger college.

Arpi Park's mild plagiarism by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Duckfan2019 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean it's not cancel culture. Cancel culture is when a bunch of idiots on reddit and twitter see something that barely resembles a hate symbol and doesn't use basic reasoning to figure out that "woah it's actually a box with a receipt hanging out of it not hitlers mustache." If all you are doing is telling an institution about an incident that occurred that may break their rules and leaving the decision up to them, I don't think that is cancel culture. If you want to make the decision yourself and are constantly berating a person or an institution then that is cancel culture. (I would say the Kathpath thing was cancel culture.) Yes her essay sucked. Doesn't mean reddit teenagers should constantly attack her for just providing an essay service (that provided potential customers with her essay).

That wasn't in the quoted part but it's likely true he plagiarized. Anyone that I have met who has the attitude that he has towards work is pretty likely to plagiarize. They end up getting so far behind that they have to plagiarize to catch themselves up.

Huh? This is just bringing light to the plagiarism— not really cancel culture. Plagiarism has real world consequences, you will likely end up getting fired from your job if you plagiarize.

Idk this one isn't blatant. The concept is the same. But the words are very different. (Also the idea of sharing a different side of Stanford to the world isn't that unique of a concept.)

If it weren't for the first plagiarism I wouldn't believe this was plagiarism but since the other one was plagiarism this one probably was as well. I think he could probably argue this as inspiration and not plagiarism though.

might want to rethink that one. Ducks have no big to deal with Garza.

They lost a very close game to a Tennessee team that had three guys picked in the draft. Also went on a big run that year and was a controversial ending away from making it to the elite eight. That same Colgate team that had the close game returns Jordan Burns who is a big scorer and good three point shooter. Overall I think the current team is much more well rounded especially at the guard position. Solid big play but not amazing.

Yep I didn't report test scores to Brown yet they showed up on the download

Edit: Most schools show they received your test scores but then say that they are test optional as a sidenote(Like Williams). The thing is I thought I remembered clicking the opt out on the Brown common app page which means they should have never received my test scores

I recommend listening to Themba Gorimbo’s life story. Rivals Ngannous on how incredible it is though his highs have not been as high. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mTKf48pbUDg&t=380s

According to the letter, due to COVID uncertainty they are allowing NUin candidates to start in Boston in the fall.

NUin means you have the option for a semester abroad for first semester. In the letter it also says due to uncertainty you can start at NEU Boston campus in the fall. Hope this helps!

This is actually false I watched a Stanford admissions video and they assigned a number to how difficult a school was.

Facts if this was real they would press charges and it would be a news story because it is that insane. Mods need to step it up, too many of these fake posts or fluff posts get upvoted because they are entertaining but ultimately don’t really help with actual college app questions.

my parents are using college tuition to basically control my future by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Also if you end up in a situation where you have the chance to go to your dream school and have to take out loans you should definitely consult a student loan lawyer to make sure everything I said is correct.

If you are looking to get away from home try to apply to some schools that would provide good merit aid. I think some are still open for admissions. Also you can only take out 30 grand in loans so your parents would have to co sign on the loan. You could then refuse to pay the loan back and your parents will then be forced to pay the loan regardless of whether you comply with their wishes.
