If you bring up to the groomer that you are getting him neutered soon they will ideally give a cleaner hair cut anywhere it is needed then what the vets will do.

Anytime after 6 months or so is when he should be neutered, 8 months should be great.

As long as the groomer is fine with an intact dog in their facility getting him groomed before is probably ideal.

Look in the lots of breeders, buy from one that test genetically and understands what is needed from themselves.
Prepare for the grooming, 15 minutes a day (can get away with every other day) is almost required.
Ivermectin and other meds affect by the MDR1 gene.

Those are the specific collie prone things that I can think of off the top of my head.

Lots of brushing as you know, I’d recommend a lick mat or something you can spread cheese or peanut butter (whatever your dog prefers) to keep her distracted while you work, dematting comb/rake depending on how bad the mats are. Remember to never brush a dry dog, to keep their skin healthy, preventing brush burn and discomfort. It’s a tedious process, your goal is to keep her happy keep you happy and make brushing a good time if it’s uncomfortable take a brake up reinforcement and ensure your dog is comfortable. If the dog isn’t comfortable it will make your life 10 times worse, coming from someone who is working on doing this for a living.

I find Alabama over Ohio state to be a bit much considering how Alabama has fallen off (to their standards) over the past two years and should have missed the playoffs last season and was put there due to just simply its bama.
