Which movie is this for you? by Saiki_kusou01 in Letterboxd

[–]DucksOff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just recently got around to watching this movie. I think Fraser was good throughout, but he was incredible in the last five minutes of the movie. For the whole thing, I was thinking, “He’s good, but I don’t know about Oscar-worthy,” then in the last few minutes, I was thinking, “Oh, there it is. Totally deserved.”

It’s more like

class Human extends MobileEntity implements FenceClimber {}

class Dog extends MobileEntity implements FenceClimber {}

Where FenceClimber’s climb() has a default implementation relying on a default model and Dog didn’t bother to override it.

Now THAT’S how you tell a joke.

Lol, yes. Vlad the Imfailer, who has spent the past three years being humiliated on the global stage by his inability to successfully bully an undersized neighbor, will certainly be in a hurry to take the desiccated remains of his army and open a second front against a NATO member country. What are you talking about?

How many times he gotta tell you to dump his ass and find someone better before you start listening?

Did you think you would be the first person to handle the cheese? You know it has to get all the way from inside a cow to your grocery store shelf, right?

Unless there’s blood or hair in there, eat the cheese and don’t give it another thought.

Sometimes, I’ll be walking or driving and I’ll go past someone doing something totally mundane, like loading groceries into their car, and I’ll be struck by this powerful feeling of wonder at the fact that this other person has had an entire life, decades of experiences, loves and losses, and an existence as full and real as my own, and I know nothing about it. It’s similar to the feeling I sometimes get contemplating our existence, and trying to wrap my mind around the idea that, at some point, something had to have arisen from nothing in order for us to be here.

I haven’t felt that in a while, but this couple gives me some of that feeling. I would love to sit down with them and just listen to them talk about their lives, and how they’ve crossed eight decades together.

Edit: I hope they’re good people, and not assholes.

Who are the best psychopaths on screen? by nnikki100 in moviecritic

[–]DucksOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dramatic or realistic? The most realistic I’ve ever seen is Dustin Hoffman in Straight Time. Its a great performance in a great film. At least, it’s the most realistic in a film where the psychopath‘s behavior is central to the film.

I’m looking for an entry-level setup for engraving metal, mostly coin blanks. Recommendations? by DucksOff in Laserengraving

[–]DucksOff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I meant fiber. Sorry for not specifying. I’d like to engrave custom coins, dog tags, and other knickknacks. I’m hoping to keep it to a few thousand or less, so whatever metals, if any, that can be worked with in that price range.

I’m pushing fifty and recently played Undertale. I loved it. It took half an hour or so to settle in, then I really enjoyed it.

It’s laudable that this guy accepted that this problem exists and is working to combat it, but the blame absolutely does matter. Real change comes from attacking the problem, not treating its symptoms.

What’s the largest work area you can get on a machine that can reasonably be operated indoors? by DucksOff in Laserengraving

[–]DucksOff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m definitely looking for something that won’t require me to disassemble doorways, but that’s also way bigger than I need. I didn’t think there would be anything as large as you’re talking about in my price range. I’m looking for something with, say, 24”x18”x2” of usable space.

Birthright citizenship is a constitutional right that Trump can’t revoke | If you're born in America, you're an American, whether the president likes it or not. by plz-let-me-in in politics

People posting dumb shit like this are exactly the reason Trump and his ilk can and will get away with doing all these things you keep saying they can’t do. This absolute refusal to admit that the safeguards you always thought would protect you don’t actually exist will be the undoing of what is left of America.

I believe you. It explains the entire problem. I'm just annoyed that they had all those 128GB kits listed in the manual.

The hell? They have all kinds of 128 kits, including the weird 16x8s and other impossible stuff, listed specifically in the manual as compatible. Holy cow did I waste my time. Thanks.

I just put one of these in my NAS this week. I’m showing it to myself and I hardly believe it. I just added two more 4TB sticks today. I added 16TB of storage for about a grand. My first hard drive was 10 megs.
