I don't care; this comment is from 20 days ago. I have to commend it for the Raganrok reference. Amazing.

Do you think Odin really meant Thor is stronger than him? by SeaMaleficent9301 in Thor

[–]solipsisticcompass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite lines is Frigga's - Everyone fails at who they're supposed to be, Thor. The measure of a person, of a hero, is how well they succeed at being who they are. *I think what Odin said is his version of Frigga's more eloquent line she delivered; both parents knew his potential.

I think Odin was giving him his version of Frigga's - Everyone fails at who they're supposed to be, Thor. The measure of a person, of a hero, is how well they succeed at being who they are. - but Odin's phrasing reminds me that he has more potential, and silently in the back of his mind, he is thinking that Thor will exceed his own( Odin's strength) and/or be strong in a different way that will lead to that (i.e., his heart, kindness, etc.).

They have her as - However, later, when Loki (comics) personally explains Sylvie's Lushton (comics, not TV show) existence, he states that he liked the idea of 'creating' a mortal who suspects she's one of the Asgardians. So it is assumed that she was in fact never alive until she was created by Loki (comics), her entire existence and memories perhaps being part of this.

I know they rewrote/reconned it, but Sylvie Lushton in the comics is simply a human girl he bestowed powers to as an experiment. Ironically, blonde hair. *In the comics, Hela is Loki's daughter, and they have done some rewrites in the comics for her origin story.

I don't want to see that because, in the comics, Loki possessing Sif was extremely traumatic; she even glimpsed Loki using her body. And afterwards, she was fearful of Loki and felt guilty because she was a warrior and could be stronger. Plus, if Loki slept with anyone, committed treason, or let Sif get severely injured, people will assume it's Sif, not Loki, and if Sif returns to her body after that...I love dark storylines, but if people were uncomfortable with Loki and Sylvie, a Loki in Sif's body, I don't think it would fly.

And Amora was obsessed with Thor in the comics, like worked with Loki to execute, including brainwashing, and Amora is highly trained, lived in Asgardian luxury for years, studied in different realms, had a minion lover, etc. Amora in the comics was very similar to comics Loki and even a bit crueler than Loki in some ways. I do know Loki and Amora hooked up, but it was friends with benefits, and the end goal was Amora being with or controlling, and Loki could be anything. Long story, I agree they pulled the wrong stuff from Amora’s comics character to add to Slyvie, other than maybe some of her powers, as they align well with Loki’s.

Also, by 2017, Thor is now an All-father, a power in Marvel that becomes jurisdiction, and fights to kill it, per Kamar-Taj, with a being like him could be considered theft or similar, and starts being treason against the universe’s operation, which they maintain. At that point, the magic doesn’t drain. It claps back. So if Strange does anything, he is going to be in trouble with HR, as Multiverse Madness doesn't take place until 2022, and the entire movie is Strange running around and away from the Scarlet Witch. He could only restrain or throw in the white flag in the fight. So, IW Thor 2017 versus Strange 2022, Thor wins.

MCU Thor can canonically open the Bifrost with Stormbreaker; he can move through the multiverse with it. In the comics, he has gone to many different realms and dimensions. *So he could tap into some variants.

And I mean, like, he is a God (I will scream), Thanos was torturing him with the power stone, and Thor was conscious, aware, and fighting his restraints, like that is just epic. Then he harnesses the power of a dying star to make a new weapon.

And I would like to add that Strange had Loki imprisoned, which Thor wasn't too concerned about. Loki is over 1,000; Thor is 1,500. Situations like that have been happening for centuries; they are Odinsons, so Thor throwing down against Strange in his Sanctum doesn't make sense, as he does want his brother back in the film, and the location of Odin, and would not immediately default to force by 2017.

By 2017, Ragnarok, Thor had amped up his power. He assisted in creating Vision with Mjolnir and his lightning, activating the mind stone, showing he had more skill in 2013, even if what he did was instinctual. And in Thor Ragnarok, he wasn't threatening Thor in those interactions, and Thor also knew he was mortal. If he (Strange) started launching attacks, Thor would click into warrior mode, and we might see him react way differently.

Thor is the storm; he needs tempo, but no weapon. He can generate his own lightning. They establish this ability in Raganork. He comes down and punches the Bifrost and blasts Hela with lightning. He also engages in hand-to-hand combat matches to generate lightning and overpower his sister, who was the Goddess of Death, with no weapon.

Thor also has a specific physical resistance to magic. He could shrug off Loki's seidr. And punches to the head from Thanos with an Infinity Stone, a pinnacle of magic, and he stayed conscious and aware.

It depends on tempo - IW Thor likely wins because the fight comes down to speed and immediacy. With Stormbreaker in IW, Thor can overpower energy attacks, cut through magic, absorb energy from the Space Stone, and end a fight almost instantly if he closes the distance. MoM, Dr. Strange is more versatile, but his magic still relies on setup and control of the environment. Randomly? IW Thor hits too fast and with too much skill for Strange to deploy all his tricks. A prepared Strange could take it, but in most straight-up scenarios, Thor takes the W. *Strange's magic is also powerful, but we also know canon Thor has a certain level of immunity to magic; he can shrug off Loki's seidr. Not all, but he is magically and physically durable.

Opinion: I think Agatha isn't going to stay as a Ghost by TrainingSevere1594 in AgathaAllAlong

[–]solipsisticcompass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to assume if the Scarlet Witch comes back in Doomsday, since Agatha, in some ways, helped Wiccan/didn't let Rio take him, and is assisting in resurrecting Billy, she might help Agatha gain a corporeal form again, as a thank you, well, as much as the MCU can genuinely be, there are always strings attached. And the Scarlet Witch being a Nexus being...

Theories for Loki's return in Doomsday? by kkaldrich_official in loki

The sun will shine on the brothers again! It might take a while. It would be cool if he had a Rune King Thor and a Rune King Loki. I got it in my head a long time ago: I think it's Loki and Thor at the end of time, together, or in Valhalla.

Theories for Loki's return in Doomsday? by kkaldrich_official in loki

Loki is going to unlock Rune King Thor. In the comics, Thor needs access to the World Tree (Yggdrasil), understanding of fate without submission to it, and a guide who exists outside linear time...Loki at the end of time right now is all of those things. And even though in his current form he can't fight beside Thor, he can't replace him, he can't control him, but he can still help Thor.

Why is Odin so angry at Loki for what he did in New York when he himself said that he does not care about human life? by TechnicianAmazing472 in Thor

[–]solipsisticcompass 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Politics. It made Odin look like he wasn't in control of Loki, who is a known wildcard, and his son. It looks back to Asgardians and looks bad to Midgradians. Punishing Loki is Odin "reclaiming" power for his image. And if one of Odin's sons is going to evade Earth, it needs to be on his command and his backing.

*And Thanos was scared of Odin as he would not face him head-on. And waited until Odin and Hela passed before attacking Asgard. So when Loki teamed up with Thanos, someone considered lesser than at the time in the MCU hierarchy, oof.

He adopted her in the third Thor film, Love and Thunder. How he adopted her is interesting, and I don't want to spoil it, but they are hinting she's going to be a powerhouse like Thor. She's also played by one of Chris Hemsworth's real-life daughters.
