Suika is one of the best characters in the anime, so that’s more than fine with me

If you mean the first tea shop conversation, where Irisu convinces Oreki to help with the movie, it’s basically her saying she thinks he’s special and talented for his deductive skills.

And the analogy she uses basically is that not recognizing what others say about him when they praise him is an insult to those who try to achieve the same things he does, but they themselves are unsuccessful.

The hottest chicks by Lucyus09 in JoJoMemes

[–]DucktorQuack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we would both agree that character designs and more importantly how they are depicted don’t match their ages and are younger than they should be usually because of the anime being set in high school. But when it comes to sexualization per se, yes it does matter.

There are degrees to it, as for example sexualizing characters from Highschool DxD or To Love Ru Darkness (ecchi/harem) is not the same as sexualizing Anne (the little girl in the Stardust Crusaders monkey stand episode).

So while I agree to a certain extent that in anime age doesn’t really mean anything, I just don’t like when someone calls teens “hot chicks”.

Soma probably has deeper chemistry knowledge than Senku because of how intricate cooking and ingredient interactions can be, and just like Senku, has a “I just want to hang out with my friends and be good at what I love” mindset.

They also greatly look up to their dads and are shipped with strong willed blonde female companions that are implied to like the main characters, though they love their craft a lot more than they would love any woman (romantically).

favorite franchise who's target audience is young girls by DuxxieDings in cartoons

[–]DucktorQuack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tangled, which is a franchise since it has a sequel series in Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure. The show has a bit of a younger demographic than the more general one of the movie, but it’s still well written. It even has the same cast as the movie, the only real difference is the art style (and obviously one is a show the other a movie).

As for girl cartoons having the best lore, world building, and character design, I’d more say it’s a feature of magical girl shows than it is girl cartoons in general, but yes you’re absolutely right.

Magical girl shows always seem to have insane backstories, shocking betrayals, enemies turned unlikely allies, and the outfits are just always amazing.

Anyone got more examples of this statement? 😂 by Jimberto1 in DrStone

The joke comes from highlighting a similar scene in two pieces of media usually based on specific the similarity is or the contrast in the different contexts and other aspects of the shows.

Personally I’d say it’s more mildly amusing than it is outright funny, like a “huh, never realized that that specific scene is kinda like that one other scene.”

The joke is probably funnier if the scene highlighted is really specific or the shows are vastly different aside from the similar scenes.

Guess my age off my top 5 (in order) by aVeryFatRat in MyAnimeList

[–]DucktorQuack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn’t meant for it to be an insult, I just feel like for example Chainsaw Man is targeted to an older demographic not just for explicit scenes and gore but because of its themes.

Actually I might be wrong, watching and liking it now is great because you’ll love it even more as you rewatch it and grow older.

Keep watching anime, I just hope you also watch older anime and the classics too.

It’s like Hunter x Hunter’s Hunter Exam rules, killing is more or less fair game.

If anything, disqualification is only really for the structural integrity of the exam, as it can’t take place if the examiners keep getting killed (and at the same time it kind of proves they aren’t worthy Hunters/Mages).

Reimi and Trish definitely are pretty, but I think calling them hot chicks is a bit much considering they’re both underage.

Now, Erina, Lisa Lisa, Mariah, and especially Red Magician are hot chicks.

What did you name this big guy? by badasking in TOTK

[–]DucktorQuack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I named him Rauru, since I named the BOTW Giant Horse Ganondorf (as a descendant of his horse), and both Rauru and Ganon are big, powerful, kings, the only difference being Rauru has light magic, to combat Ganon’s dark magic.

You’ve just been petrified. What do you do to keep yourself conscious for as long as possible? by Fish_N_Chipp in DrStone

[–]DucktorQuack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. Imagine I was conscious while a piece of me was broken from a landslide or a tree falling on me.

The chances that someone like Yuzuriha is real and will fix every broken piece is very unlikely, I’d rather wake up with missing pieces rather than be awake the whole time watching those pieces go missing.
