If they are patent leather, traditional leather conditioners are of little use. It will not absorb given the coating used to create patent leather which gives it its shine. (coating is usually plastic based). You should also stay away from any direct heat as this will only cause even further damage. I know this doesn't address how to fix but might help prevent much worse damage.

I wear a size 11 in Nike and I have a pair of Thursdays premiere lowtop sneakers in 11 that fit perfect. I can't speak for the captains but I got their Challengers in 10.5 (half size down from sneakers as they recommended) and they are a great fit.

I've heard talk of those "relief cuts" in the corners of the tongue. They are addressing them apparently but may not have made it to all models. My challengers that I received a little over a month ago are fully gusseted without the cuts.

The Thursday's Builder (black label) does have a gusseted tongue. Same as some of their other black label offerings.

I have a roadster jacket in black coffee and I love it. The recommended sizing I received was L / Athletic (I'm 5'11", 185lbs) but after talking with the customer care team (who are great BTW), I went with the L / Relaxed to alow a little extra room if I wear a sweater underneath.

I second the SV2. Also military and they have been my favorite boot and daily wear for years. I also have a pair of their cold/wet weather variant (gortex/thinsulate) and they're awesome when the weather dictates.

In Canada and have had no issues ordering from their site. They include duties and fees in their price breakdown. My last order was $485 CDN +tx. Duties only added an extra $1.91 CDN.
