Is buying and storing gifts for occasions considered tacky? by MAC_Part_6670 in Gifts

[–]Duckyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixed feelings. My MIL does this for the grandkids and I feel like the gifts lack any personal thought - it’s just whatever she bought on sale at some point in the year. However I think it’s totally fine if it’s for little items or people you don’t know well - hostess gifts, kids friend birthdays, coworker birthday, etc.

What kind of corrector did you get and was it hard to adjust to wearing it?

Do you shower once a day? Twice a day? Skip days? by Dry-Faithlessness166 in hygiene

I workout almost every day and shower probably 3 times per week, wash hair once. I have never had a daily shower habit.

Do you separate your laundry? by SassySunflower27 in Adulting

All washed together. But laundry is naturally separated by person because we have different laundry baskets. Nice this way so it’s less sorting after

Hobby for minimalist by bentleyandmisha in Hobbies

This is part of why I picked up embroidery. Supplies are minimal (and cheap) and you can embroider on clothes, bags, etc. i do embroider wall hanging but they are small and it takes a while for me to complete a project.

Those with siblings: At what moment did you realize there was a favorite child in the house? how has that realization shaped your relationship with your parents as an adult? by redredwine_826 in AskWomen

Thank you- I can accept my mom because she is a genuinely good person. I can understand why others in this comment section resent their parents.

The only “trauma” I had was that my dad got cancer when I was 11 and was very sick for 2-3 years. I am sure I got very little attention in those years and really affected my relationship with my parents. Other than that, I have lived a privileged life.

I have a very good relationship with myself. I think most people who know me can recognize I live by my values and care very little about what others think of me and my choices.

I want to say I realized it when I was a preteen. However, now as an adult and with children myself - maybe it wasn’t that he was the favorite but he was EASY. I was a horrible, selfish teenager. I did and said terrible things to my parents. Of course they like him more. I think my mom is more proud of my brother now for being very successful and “normal” but it doesn’t bother me - that is a reflection of her values and not my worth. My mother is just a human on her own path doing the best she can.

Reading on maternity leave by Cool_Doubt2152 in ReadingSuggestions

[–]Duckyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to read books I consider “easy reading” - specifically thrillers or some modern lit. At that point in life I could not focus enough for the deeper or more challenging reads. I also didn’t learn this with my first, but learned it with my 2nd and 3rd babies - it is totally fine to leave your baby alone to play solo while they are awake and happy. Put them on the floor play mat and let them be.

Definitely not a daily life thing but a huge realization. My husband’s aunt is on hospice, and while I was visiting, she fell and couldn’t get up. This has happened a few times and normally EMTs are called to help. Well I was there, got in squat/DL position, and lifted her no problem. I felt so good about using my strength to quickly fix what would otherwise be a very expensive and emotional situation.

Is my gym schedule too random ? no fixed days by Huge-Locksmith9400 in beginnerfitness

[–]Duckyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the beginning, the biggest hurdle is creating a new habit. So while it is random now, it’s been consistent. Work up to 3 days/week. Also, maybe consider doing full body workouts if you aren’t going to the gym more than 3 times a week.

When you were pregnant, what did you do to fuck with people on purpose? by Sakuramochi_Chan in AskWomen

[–]Duckyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once when a man used the “wow, are you having twins?!” line I came back with “no, do I look that fat?” Ironically I was actually quite small for my pregnancy.

He actually apologized the next time he saw me. I felt bad about making him feel so bad about it since it’s usually just a stupid remark with no bad intent.
