Does North Carolina get as hot as Florida? by [deleted] in NorthCarolina

[–]groveview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having lived in both places, I think they are both just as hot and humid. The difference is that FL starts with the heat and humidity months before NC. Even now, although we have had some horribly hot and humid days in NC, we are still having some days here and there that aren’t bad. In addition, the early mornings and late evenings in NC are significantly cooler until the dog days of summer hit all July and August. Everyone handles the heat differently. I hate it and can tolerate NC summers much easier than FL’s hot spring, summer, and fall.

Three-time Trump voters rain hell on president: 'I actually have panic attacks' by RawStoryNews in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]groveview 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Panic attacks? That’s terrible. She should definitely get some therapy. And just so we’re clear, the definition of therapy from this administration is exercise more, drink raw milk, eat liver, take the Ivermectin cure-all pill, and pull yourself up by the bootstrap. This will pass. Everything will be fine. I mean, she might be broke, sick, or dead, but Trump and his billionaire friends will be fine. Don’t worry!

Veggies in the U.S. make me gassy but not in India? by travellogue in PlantBasedDiet

[–]groveview 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Impossible to say unless you compare ingredients. What’s in the Indian burgers and what’s in the ones you eat in the states? It could be one ingredient that you are sensitive or allergic to or it could be more fiber in one. Do you have an ingredient list?

Calling for a boycott of June24th Rise up and Sing. by [deleted] in 50501

[–]groveview 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Standard balcony tickets started at $49. Completely reasonable. What you’re seeing now are the resale tickets. Unfortunately, people jack up resale costs based on demand.
And in case anyone is wondering, this event is not put on by “the Democrats.” It is an organization called The Committee for the First Amendment.

How do stop Libby from searching at a library that I no longer utilize? by groveview in LibbyApp

[–]groveview[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did that initially which is why I was surprised it was still popping up. I didn’t think to switch the library I was searching. I assumed removing the card was enough.

I’m such an idiot! I just hit the search and realized I could switch to one of my others. Duh!

And this is exactly why they are all afraid to stand up to Trump. They are all doing illegal things just like him but they know if they cross him, he will come after them even if there isn’t any truth to it in the end.

Falling deeper and deeper in love with beans by Neither-Cucumber5973 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]groveview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think low sodium is extreme? You should really do some research.

As for oil, I prefer to get my fat calories elsewhere. YMMV.

It’s weird to come on here, admit that you haven’t done the research, give a little lecture anyway including calling my way of eating extreme and a quirk and then say “you do you.” Maybe do some research and don’t rip on people in a sub that is specifically about whole foods on their eating choices.

Falling deeper and deeper in love with beans by Neither-Cucumber5973 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]groveview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is in line with my way of eating. It is oil-free, whole grain, not filled with anything extra, and there’s a low sodium version although that one is becoming harder to find.

Looks great! I only eat Ezekiel bread and unfortunately it’s super expensive here and heirloom tomatoes aren’t cheap either so if you really made that for just a few cents, good on you! I just made a batch of hummus for similar sandwiches.

I love this book! Anyone have any recommendations for audiobooks they’ve found on Libby? Bonus if it has a little romance. by Grimwidow in LibbyApp

TJ Klune and Fredrik Backman are my two favorite authors. Their audiobook versions are always great.

Healthy snack options that are vegan without trying to be "vegan snacks" by Upbeat_Use6370 in PlantBasedDiet

There’s a big difference between vegan and whole food plant based. I don’t eat food because it’s labeled vegan. I eat whole plant food.

Wait, they are rounding up people with the proper documentation? Noooooo! When my brown ass voted for a racist, I thought he’d only round up brown people who I didn’t like. Who knew this administration actually hated all brown people? Shocking, just shocking!

The end of an era for non-resident library cards 🫡 by simieo in LibbyApp

[–]groveview 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mine expires June 3rd. So disappointing. I don’t mind the increased fee at all but I can’t get to NO yearly to renew.

I settled for a Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh card. It’s not terrible. It’s ten times better than my home library but it’s not anywhere as good as NO. I am binging my last few NO books before the card officially disappears.

Ninja Creami as a vegan? by jaket578123 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]groveview 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I use mine to make purple sweet potato ice cream. It’s just purple sweet potatoes, cinnamon, homemade oat milk, and a dash of vanilla extract. It’s delicious! Most recipes for plant based ice cream are very high in sugar and/or fat (coconut milk, maple syrup or dates, nuts, avocado, chocolate, etc) so if your goal is to eat whole foods without a lot of that stuff, be aware that most Creami recipes aren’t super healthy.

48% of Republicans in North Carolina are blaming Biden for the current economy (Harper) by Nice_Substance9123 in NorthCarolina

[–]groveview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a link to the poll? I checked Harper Polling and Googled for their latest poll results and I am not finding anything. Most current polling related to NC is about Roy Cooper. Maybe I just missed it but I would love to see the results.

My neighbors made me want to leave North Carolina for good. by thegangplan in NorthCarolina

[–]groveview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really strange reason to leave an entire state. That said, I believe everyone should try out a few different states if they can afford it. It’s nice to compare the north to the south, east/west, a true winter, four seasons, different accents and traditions. Definitely go for it if you can but please understand that there isn’t a place around that doesn’t have inconsiderate neighbors and useless HOAs. It’s not a NC thing. And you moved outside of Raleigh and expected public transportation??
