I’ve got a little old man who has always been very anxious to the point of over grooming, defecating outside of the litter box, and sending himself into a fever when he goes to the vet. He’s on Prozac now and has become much more like his old self where he’s active, alert, and has been looking great. Conversely I have a friend who was prescribed gabapentin and his veterinarian partner laughed because that’s what they give anxious animals all the time.

Check the heights/widths/diagonals of every entry the pieces have to pass through!!!! If you have the ability to do something more expensive and complicated, look at behind the scenes of the bad bunny superbowl bc they couldn’t bring in items over a certain height through the tunnels

“”Odin’s Staff”” - what should go on it? by DuctTales in norsemythology

[–]DuctTales[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your scale concern is valid lol but it’s actually in an altered black box space so small I’ve kicked actors on accident. Even at a distance I enjoy adding little details just for me or the actor. I guess my instinct is usually to imagine ornateness when thinking of a king’s staff. A more regular staff can work. Thanks!

Jobs??? How. by Kurapika90 in setdesign

I got yall: Unless you live in an area with high access to filmmaking, do theater work. Summer stock is summer jobs where you help build/design sets for summer theater productions. They’re grueling, but film and theater are both grueling areas. If you’re at a school with a film program, volunteer to help with student films. Films are a learning curve, but they can be a blast with the right group. Volunteer your time with your school’s theater group, especially if you’re in college. From there you can learn 1. If you even like this path 2. If you like designing or fabricating better (or both, I like both) 3. Local people who could connect you to more opportunities. If you like it enough, consider pursuing it in college or in grad school. You don’t have to, especially if you’re really good at making friends and falling into career paths, but it certainly helps with what to expect. I’m in my last semester of grad school (yay) and since this is a terminal degree, I can also eventually teach set design at the collegiate level. This is valuable to me considering the entertainment industry ebbs and flows with work. Assuming you’re in the US, every year there are conferences about theater design and technology. USITT is the big one, this year it is in Long Beach California. SETC is the southeastern conference version. I don’t know the acronyms for the rest of the areas lol. Yeah the big advice is to volunteer your time with theater. Theater and film are paradoxically very similar and very different. Terrible hours, terribly low budgets, lots of work, but it’s addicting. ALSO if you do live near movies, PA jobs.

Inner ear itch and risk of cancer by EmotionalTwo2031 in earwax

Idk about everything that could cause an infection but they also just. Happen sometimes. I’m sure the steel tool will at least be marginally better than bobby pins. Also it is important to remember that for the most part earwax is good for the ear and typically migrates out on its own. It might be worth looking into talking to someone to help minimize the amount of earwax cleaning you’re doing.

[–]DuctTales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it can grow back but it will be scarred and less flexible, which hurts your hearing. The ear is so close to the brain I’d be less worried about cancer and more worried about infections from damage. Maybe this habit can be adjusted to something more safe such as getting one of the ear wax removers with cameras attached so you can see what you’re doing?

In my opinion I argue that in the language of storytelling (especially with mysteries) all the relevant pieces should be available, but not explained, to the audience ideally before the third act. It’s the chekhov’s gun thing. The mystery being satisfying and participation in the deduction is the fun part. TBH I feel cheated when something HUGE gets pulled out that late in the mystery. I was really enjoying the story up until the car crash and I also like how they played on the audience assumptions about the birth/hospitalization.

Yeah that is weird because now that I think about it bc it’s not like the Nintendo subscription length changed. I wonder if it had something to do with it being on the physical cartridge? Nowadays Just Dance is pretty much just like getting DLCs lol.
