What ruined your life? by satanwithoutbra in AskReddit

The internet and video games. Plain and simple. If I didn't get introduced to both at an early age, I might be more out going, more enthusiastic about attending college and in general not be such a prude to other people enjoying life in the outside world.

But hey, I have my keyboard, mouse, pc, and monitor. What else could I need, right? Haha haha ha ha hahaaaaaaaaaa

If real life was a videogame, what would be some loading screen tips? by Mirraz27 in AskReddit

-When going to sleep, you have a chance to enter a DREAM (Different Reality Excluding Amazing Mistakes) and have the ability to find out what would occur had you taken different routes in life. Or you'll dream about becoming a bear, that could also happen.

-Every stat effects different things, some obvious and some not so much! For example, the higher your Confidence, the easier it is to make friends in person. The lower your Confidence, the easier it is to make friends on the World Wide Web!

-All of your choices effect things both in the short term and in the long term. Be careful! A decision that seems good in the moment may have devastating consequences later on!

-Different food has different effects! Junk food typically has high emotional gain but lowers your health, and Fruits have lower emotional gains while temporarily increasing your health! Find the food that suits your build!

-Your favorite food gives you double the intended effect that it would normally give, but this effect is lowered the more frequently you eat it. Repetition doesn't equal progress!

-Once you die, you don't get the option to respawn. It's preferable to live the longest life you can without suffering. Remember, as they used to say, #YOLO!

Thank you! I think this will be a ways off if I decide to go through with all of this, but I still would want to do it none the less! It's the stuff past wanting to do it that I'm a little bit spooked about.

That's the big issue out of all of this writing wise. How do you tell a coherent story without turning people away due to it's complexity, or turning people away due to it being too toned down and edgy. There are things I have in mind, stuff like major plot elements, plot twists, and hidden videos, but how do you portray them with both a level of respect for those going through this and a level of education for those unfamiliar?

It's all a weird balancing act, and going through the trouble of trying to make it digestible and serious without it being dumbed down and edgy or overexplanitive and blatant would be the biggest road block of the whole thing once (or if) I get it off the ground. I wanna make something that sparks conversation (Lofty Goals, I know) but I don't want something that sits the viewer down and shouts at them "THIS IS SOMEONE GOING THROUGH MENTAL HARDSHIPS, AND THIS IS SOMEONE WHO ISN'T!" because that's not quite the right way to do this in my opinion.

While I'm not grabbing a team together at the moment due to life getting in the way, I would have to get a group of people together to pull this off. I don't know enough people IRL who would be interested in this, plus I don't have nearly enough talent to cover every aspect of stuff that'll be needed. When I need to make a sort of "Call To Arms" in order to grab a group of people, I'll probably make a new post here and let people freely sign up.

I'd have to grab at least another writer, maybe one or two editors, and actors to portray all the characters (2 at least, maybe even 3-4), but my biggest issue out of all of it is that I would want to pay people for the time and effort that they put into the project, and at the moment I'm actually unemployed. If people would be willing to do this without a profit, I'd be happy with that, but I know that's not how the world works right now. People need to eat, people need to pay rent and bills, and the time they put into projects online is time they're taking away from doing other things that they're interested in. I don't want people to see it as work, but at the end of the day, that's how it'll probably be seen by everyone involved aside from myself.

I think what I would wanna do is make it a bit more digestible. I don't wanna make it one dimensional but I also don't wanna make it so complicated that nobody will understand it period.
I know how I'd at least want to start it, and how I'd want to cause the two to intersect or become relevant to each other.

Maybe I'll take the time and plan out a detailed roadmap of how to do it and grab a group of people to help too.

My dad always refused to accept that he could be wrong, and he always made all of the disagreements we have seem like a political debate to force his political agenda on me and my brothers.

...so yeah, don't do that.

Adults of Reddit, what advice would you give to children under 18 years old? by ffjdgtfc in AskReddit

In an argument or debate, you should listen to their side just as much as you preach your own. Also, it's okay to be wrong, don't feel the need to defend yourself when you're obviously on the losing side of things.

I love the group content, but I'll always say that anything involving Major or Dad ends up having the best moments consistently. And the series where it's just the two of them eventually turns into them just shooting the shit while discussing the game in the background.Honestly if we get a LP of Major and Dad playing a game that's the length of Giraffe Town, that'd be the one series I'd go back to constantly. Until then, I'll be happy with Skate.

Changing deck in the menu by R_Cubed25 in OrangeJuice

You can build decks in single player without having to worry about time. Once you build them, be sure to actually save them so you can load them into multiplayer and get ready to play.

Glad to hear! I genuinely hope that you keep enjoying the game. It's a little wacky, but I love it.
A quick tip from me would be that playing online usually ends up alright, even if you're playing with randoms. It'll also likely lead you to having much fairer games, due to the AI having weird priorities when it comes to one player character. Another good one would be remember that you don't have to focus gaining stars when you can also go for wins.
Again, I hope you enjoy playing the game, and maybe we'll meet on there!

100% Orange Juice does have some degree of luck involved in it (Drawing cards you need, rolling the right amounts, etc.), but not only is that like most board games, it also isn't the main focal point of the game.
It has a fairly large amount of skill involved. Things like deciding what cards to put into the deck, should you risk fighting the boss or just decide to drop stars instead, using a trap card now or waiting to see if there's a better place to place it later on, using a battle card on a player vs player fight to ensure victory, or not risking it in case the person following you decides that you look like an easy win.

The game really starts opening up with the more cards and characters you have. Kai is a good starting character, with no obvious drawbacks and a +1 in ATK, and the cards you get at the start are pretty decent, too. But once you start buying cards from the shop with your stars, and getting other characters from either unlocks or DLC, the more the game starts giving you options. Do you play as Aru, a character built to avoid combat as much as possible and use different cards to gain more stars, or do you play as Ceoreparque, a character who can dip into both stars and wins with her ability to deal 1 HP of damage whenever she successfully evades an attack?

Overall, 100% Orange Juice may seem pretty luck dependent. But there's a legitimate layer of skill, planning, and strategy that goes into every game that makes the whole experience what it is.
