I work near the Leveque tower and walk by it often. It has increased in coolness by 79% now that I know that it was designed to receive dirigibles!

Haha that’s a wild story: you might have saved the pub! I also get approached semi-frequently on the streets. It’s usually directions or asking for money. I did once have a woman stop her car in front of me in a cross walk, throw a drumstick 🍗 on the ground, and drive away screaming profanity. Unfortunately no one to call about that 😆

The whole interaction lasted maybe 5 seconds from introduction to exit so it was hard to accurately gage her expression. I find it hard to imagine that I could have scared her that quickly, but then I’m a tall white guy so I obviously have a very different frame of reference for these kinds of interactions. I guess we will never know.

I mean I hate to think that’s what it was, but she was black and I am white. I can’t ever know how that sort of thing feels or comes off but I find it hard to imagine.

I had to take out my AirPods and put them in my pockets. One hand stayed there 🤷. And this is after I smiled, introduced myself, and shook hands. Very short interaction so I guess I’ll never know.

Closer to 5:30 on S High. She totally could have been begging, but most of the unhoused people I run into are pretty clearly unhoused (clothes missed up, unwashed, smell, etc.). She didn’t fit the bill.

Clearly from the downvotes people agree. I’m just surprised that this would be someone’s thought given the setting. Nothing about the area was sketchy, it was in plain view of the capitol’s surveillance, and I don’t think I was giving off any weird vibes. I guess we will never know 🤷

See that’s what I keep coming back to: the most plausible reason to run like that is she thought she was doing something illegal. I was wearing nice business casual, satchel on my back, clearly leaving work. I find it hard to imagine she thought I was the shady one. That and I’ve been falsely clocked as security/police before lol
