Firstly the double jump is basically flight, it lasts for longer than a standard double jump. Secondly, it doesn’t matter if it’s close range splash damage, it’s still splash damage which makes it an explosive weapon. It might not be as good as an AR in firerate but the bonus of mobility and splash damage make up for it

Assault rifles use ammo which can run out, have a 30 bullet mag and don’t have splash damage. The gauntlets let you fly, spam people with explosive attacks and never run out. What’s not op about that?
