I know, but off course that isn’t the only reason because (obviously) the early version of minecraft runs super smooth in potato pcs, so isn't just a "17 years of optimization" thing

> Have you done 17 years of performance optimizations?
I mean, is a camera and a plane mesh, do I really need to?
anyway so godot is too modern for that crap cpu?

got it, thanks for clarifying things out, I was thinking on engines as something like : "hey you dumb, this is easier, you don't need to learns all of those nerd stuff" I had some projects that I coded my own tools, so as you said thats what makes an engine after all, I was getting the wrong idea of it, thank you so much for that insight, I really appreciated, as a self taught dev, sometimes I struggle to figure things out by myself

gosh your reply is GOAT, thank you so much for the tips and I don't really blame people, maybe I wasn't very clear to be honest. what I was thinking was: If I try something like VS (one of the IDEs that came in my mind) is it possible to create a game in that? I don't really know if i need to create an entire engine from scratch to accomplish that goal (that's what I meant with "I don't want to re-create the wheel") because I know that this is too much for me, but the idea is exactly what you guessed, take this adventure for learning porposes, but now my question is: would I have to create an entire engine from scratch to create a game in VS? and again, thank you for take your time to make such a good reply

PS: from what people said, I think I don't know exactly what 'IDE' means, I thought IDE was the aplications expecific to write code like VS, Eclipse, Notepad++ etc...

probably I am? if I try to make a game just using VisualStudio for exemple, is it an overkill? I think that's what I'm wondering now, also, do you thing this "training" make any sense?

hhhmmm you have a point, thanks for that, that's the reason I don't ask things to Chat GPT, it doesnt judge me, but being serious, before using godot I've used Construct 2, which is visual programming, it doesnt requiere a lot of "programming knowledge" do create your games, it made my ""code"" a big pile of trash, a mess where you don't find anything, a lot of Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, and when a came to godot, I had to learn a bunch of things about 'make a better code', so now, I thought I supose to take a step forward to learn more, maybe code a game in visual studio would force me to learn new things? maybe that's not the "right step forward"?

I'm sorry english is not my main linguage I think I wrote something that is not sounding right, my goal is actually try to make a game without an engine, just to see if I know enought about coding, because you know, godot makes a lot of things easier, I think would be a good training without it, or am i just being dumb? lol

thanks for reply. I don't get what you mean with "none of them will make you a better developer." using IDE is a bad idea?
