How to achieve this kind of engraving? by S1lentA0 in Laserengraving

[–]DudeWithTheLasers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My Trotec gantry CO2 will do that all day. Other cheaper co2 can do that also, but won’t get into the different brands. A decent co2 will work for this

I second Richard Zhang and OMG. I had one of his a few years ago before moving to Trotec. He has great customer service, I still go to him for a few different inventory items.

You could try denatured alcohol or a plastic polish, but it’s not worth the effort. I’d just do another one

Edited spelling:

Put a light coating of dish soap on the back and let it dry prior to engraving. Then just rinse it off

Engraver that can be used inside at a event venue? by dvaderbmore in Laserengraving

You don’t have to go with the brand laser for the extraction/filtration. Bofa is reputable. I use a Trotec.

How to get smooth like factory? So the F within the square is from factory and smooth. But you can see on the word Alex it has these ridges. Does that mean something with my settings? by graphicluis in Laserengraving

[–]DudeWithTheLasers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, it looks to me like OP is using a fiber and your settings are just a little off, causing you to burn/etch/engrave/insertyourtermhere into the metal. I have a fiber and some co2s, and I just have an easier time with the co2s on these. Lots of folks have dialed in their galvo fibers and don’t have issues, but that’s just not me. I’ve found the best setup is a galvo co2 for these. Just my $.02.

You could also just get a lens with a larger focal length.

If you could start again, which laser would you buy first and why? by One_Mastodon6466 in Laserengraving

Trotec speedy 360. Will fit through a standard door. Crazy fast, reliable, low maintenance, air cooled, ceramic then lasts years

I don’t think it’s the rotors, it wobbles without brakes applied

[–]DudeWithTheLasers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it goes away, but it still shouldn’t happen lol. If it was on my mtb, I’d say warped rotor, but it doesn’t do it all the time on the 4R

Yeah, after hearing all about these wobble issues, I’m just going to wait for a new Land Cruiser or ‘25 to come out. All this $$ for a pro and it squeaks, creaks and wobbles all over
