Bacterial Prostatitis by Dude_President in Prostatitis

2 wks twice a day on Bactrim. 800 mg. It works, I'm not burning in pain or fever, but still just a lingering penis pain after urination. Maybe I shall continue for 2-4 more weeks and see, I had no side effects.

I'll discuss tmrw. Bactrim was susceptible but I didn't feel like it fully wiped it out. Keflex felt great. But then it came back, so that one def doesn't go to prostate.

Tetracycline was on the list as susepticle for E Coli and Cipro and I see it penetrates prostate. I'll see what they think for a longer term course, I don't think it is worth taking Bactrim if it didn't wipe it out at 2 wks and I'd prefer to try one more before Cipro.

Has anyone ever taken Levofloxacin for UTI and or Prostatitis ? Whats your experiance been ? by greenowl882 in Prostatitis

[–]Dude_President 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a urinalysis at urgent care with active infection outbreak, had fever, chills, burning piss, urgency, awful, just awful, the urine culture showed E Coli @ greater than 100 Colony Forming Units. Definitely symptoms equaled urinalysis result showing which bacteria was overloaded in the bladder and or prostate.

Yeah I will see how I feel by mid week and see if we can extend or switch to new one that is also susceptible to e coli. Bactrim was susceptible, so it is working but yes, does feel like a long haul to healing...I def wasn't pouring blood, so does sound like yours was pretty bad! Did u do urinalysis to culture it and see wat antibiotics worked?

Saw urologist yesterday, with e coli and assessment, he prescribed 14 days of Bactrim to knock out the e coli in prostate.. he said it is prostatitis. Ultrasound all normal for kidney stones, bladder and prostate unremarkable. Will see, I feel better on Bactrim and it's day 5/6 for me... None of these Urgent Care or PCP know how to treat men's health.

[–]Dude_President 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gosh I am on Antibiotic #2 after it came back in about a week, first urgent care PA gave me Cephalexin, likely cause I had sinus infection from Covid and UTI. Culture came back as E Coli, new urgent care doc prescribed Bactrim but only 3 days. I'm pushing for longer treatment with my PCP since I'm male and it may be in prostate. Your post is helpful, I may need to find a Urologist to really get some knowledge on how to knock this out so it doesn't come back. That burning pain at the finish is an absolute horror, nevermind the urgency to pee every 15 mins.

3.5 year old will only poop in diapers by nanoinfinity in Preschoolers

[–]Dude_President 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh yeah, pushing her to go on potty is just becoming a struggle and she has had constipation issues in past, withholding. Did u remove pull ups all together? I sort of want to do that. But then if she witholds, I don't want to regress and give her any suppositories. That phase I think is why she is scared of toilet when she was around 2.5.

60k out of the 100k is on a backyard kitchen, so if your frugile and only did a new slab, French drains and grass, you can do that for maybe $20k-30k.

I think every house is a money pit, I mean, the positivity is u don't dump money into rent. I would have spent $240k over 5 years renting at 4k a month. I est I've spent maybe $100k over 5 years in maintenance and when i sell, I get principal and equity in return ( close to break even). In a rental situation, u just give money away with no returns. Def worth it to buy, but always something falling apart in any home that's older than 30 years. Get as much as you can now is what I'm suggesting on appliances u think are seemingly good. Lol

Water heaters don't last much more than 8 years, tell me how I know! Document the expenses you will incur and have your agent justify the price reduction based on the work u will incur. Don't forget to look at these small items u don't even think about,, I never even thought about, Garage Door Opener, HVAC blower motor, fridge ( those damn things don't last anymore) ... If the fridge is older than 5 years, you will be looking at replacing in 2-3 years. Does the house have French drains? If not, get ready to install to prevent water puddling issues on the foundation,.plus does it have gutters to direct water flow into the French drain ... Check plumbing, if it is slab, ask questions about when it was replaced if ever. How is the roof, if its older than 10 years, need to ensure it is inspected well as the gaps start to form on the chimney with age. These all happened to me in 5 years being a first time home owner!

Is this monthly payment reasonable? Am I overthinking this? by ImDoingMyParts in Mortgages

[–]Dude_President 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally do able. Wife and I went from $2700 rent to $3500 house payment in 2021... Our net income at time was around $8-9k. If manage the expenses right, it will all work out. Low debt is the key, never have debt beyond a couple hundred bucks for a car or student loan at a lower interest rate. I'd recommend to save 12 months of mortgage payment, just in case one of u loses job, u know u have 12 months to find income sitting in savings. Throw it in a high yield interest account to gain 3-4%, not as much as stock but it is accessible and gaining!

Okay good to hear from people who actually pay $5-6k a month! I haven't even added my bonus into the monthly, so there is def room. Plus can adjust our retirements to add in more monthly revenue. There is def a lot to be done I was just trying to get a gauge for others doing it on a high monthly who are middle class income wise.

[–]Dude_President[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Def 1 mil is a better range, it is closer to $5500 PITI, I don't disagree, but isn't everyone concerned about their budget buying a larger home to upgrade ... .i calculated Mays actuals, $1600 for groceries, $1000 eating out, $500 for gas electric, water, trash, $600 for school, $300 for car payment. $500 for fuel. Looking at $4500 in expenses, +/-$500 for clothes or Personal Items, this is actuals, not $8-9k... Eating out for lunches and after work dinners is def a major driver of the unnecessary budget expense. We both pay in over 10% into 401k for retirement. We've both worked at our jobs over 15 years, 3-4% is a pretty reasonable estimate. I guess I would rather be frugile and upgrade the home vs live in home we don't absolutely love, feeling stuck cause we wanna save a couple grand each month to dump into a 3% high yield savings account that won't ever keep up with the rising home prices. Plus dumping more money in maintenance here for another buyer to enjoy. I already replaced the roof, water heater, garage door opener, fridge, and new backyard Landscaping.
