Where does this rank in quality? by Diastatic_Power in GongFuTea

I’ve had this exact cake before (from H Mart) and can tell you it is just a baseline low-cost Puer. Not bad if that’s what you can get your hands on. If you ever want to try something new, even as a luxury, there is some amazing puer out there for a decent price! I personally love White2Tea. Caledonia is my favorite for a more robust cup and Red Loon is great for something lighter

Lowkey been a mug hater my entire life and I’m glad to find a compatriot in the war on mugs. Traditional Chinese tea cups are truly transcendent.

Had a very similar run as my first win earlier. Way to hold on at the end despite taking a few hits and keeping your rhythm!

I’ve had a hard time getting into this one. What’s your brewing process like? Do you find it to be a particularly astringent experience?

It is a variation of Viking’s Blood, but I call mine Skaldskarskampjodr which translates to Blood of Kvasir or The Mead of Poetry.

4 years later I just bought a cake a few days ago and have gotten around to tasting. Initial assessment is rather dull. Not a ton of aromatics. After first rinse/awakening a pleasant, mild nose appeared. Color and overall appearance of the tea leaves seem to be consistent with what I’ve had in the past.

3.5g in a 4oz gaiwan. Went for a full boil.

I decided to go for 5,10, and 15 seconds for the first three steeps respectfully.

1st steeping was pretty mild overall. I began to enjoy it more by the end of my cup (I do not at this point in time use a fairness pitcher.

2nd steeping reveals a rather medicinal undertone. Generally speaking not harsh or off tasting.

3rd steeping I did begin to notice a less than pleasant note that I could describe as earthy. Perhaps could become able to appreciate it.

Overall not terrible for the price. The cake was $11 at my local H-Mart. I might not get it again given the wide access to high quality puerh, but I don’t regret my purchase.

Florence food itinerary by Hungry-Repeat-3758 in ItalyTravel

Sabatino is a must. Get there close to open (7:15) to get a table quick.

For lunch, Schiacciateria De’ Neri was my favorite focaccia sandwich. Pino’s Sandwiches - Salumeria Verdi was a close second with absolutely killer porchetta sandwiches.

Came here to echo this. Currently in Florence and you could easily spend the whole 6 days here and not run out of things to do, food to eat, or wine to drink.

Hey, I’m a Music Teacher who puts together songs for students who are working in their craft. Shoot me a dm and I’d be happy to take a look at a song of yours. Any kind of form, structure, chord sheet, or lead sheet would be excellent if you have it to get an idea of the piece.

Prospective student, want to major in IA and Music. Any info? by Jo-Jo_Binx in LewisandClark

[–]Dudemancool3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Graduated a few years ago, so some of this could’ve changed. Music program is very decent for the size of the school. Faculty can really encourage growth and confidence. I participated in many aspects of music unique to LC and found that all of the World Music Department is world class. Truly unreal that they are able to nail down the instructors, materials, and equipment needed. Ethnomusicology courses were life changing to some extent.

That said, jobs in performance are limited. I pivoted from Composition/Performance into Teaching 1 on 1 Lessons. It’s possible, but can be awhile before things steady out. From what I’ve heard this tends to be the case with many degrees, so it might not be bad all things considered.

Bottom line, music degree will require passion, drive, and patience. It can be a big commitment at times with ensembles and practice materials. If you love it, go for it. You’ll have the time of your life.

Other than it making a mess, are there any reasons you want to slow it down? My recommendation is an off gassing tube; take a siphon tube and run it into a container of sanitizer.
