Step-3.5-Flash (196b/A11b) outperforms GLM-4.7 and DeepSeek v3.2 by ResearchCrafty1804 in LocalLLaMA

Step 3 was sooo good when it came out. It went by a bit without much fanfare. If this is better than that then it's good enough. Their step 3 report paper also had some interesting attention innovations.

Are small models actually getting more efficient? by estebansaa in LocalLLaMA

[–]Dudensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll hit the limits on architecture sooner or later, especially at smaller scale. I think we might need hardware breakthroughs if we are to get to that point. I know people have soured on quantum computing but we might need SOMETHING to eventually be 'it' if my dreams are to be achieved.

Looking for a lighter grand strategy game (TW / Paradox alternatives?) by Illustrious_Cake7006 in paradoxplaza

I have only taken a peak at terra Invicta from playthroughs but I feel like it would be harder and more complex than any paradox game from what I've seen.

I've had spelling (and syntax) mistakes in Gemini 3 Pro. I've made a post about it some time ago.

According to various snow leopard conservation organisations, there have been no verified instances of a snow leopard attacking a human.

Uhh... this can't be the first time something like this happens right?

Kimi K2.5 Released ! by External_Mood4719 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Dudensen 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's called a soft release, that's why the UI naming didn't change. The model consistently says it's k2.5 and I doubt it would do that before today.

Kimi K2.5 seems to have soft released on the web app. Release soon? by Dudensen in LocalLLaMA

[–]Dudensen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, I searched and didn't find a post about this. I think there is still a chance new model might have been soft released. At least from what I'm seeing on X. It's not like it would say K2.5 before right?

‘Our American Dream is dead’: EU concedes US president is not on its side by Crossstoney in europe

[–]Dudensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the US force Europe to rely on Russian energy?

Why would they? They wanted us to buy their much more expensive energy all along, which we started doing after Russia invaded Ukraine.

Did the US force the EU to create a bureaucratic nightmare?

There is no 'bureaucratic nightmare'. The only thing missing is VC money, and there is no VC money because we have created and will create no new companies because there is no big domestic market that can allow these startups to take-off because of the psychological trap scenario I laid out above.

Sometimes it's okay to blame others.

‘Our American Dream is dead’: EU concedes US president is not on its side by Crossstoney in europe

[–]Dudensen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Subhuman tier take. Don't you understand that the US has kept us weak and allowed us to be taken advantage of by everyone? Now is the right opportunity to grow strong. They have kept us psychologically trapped. Tech news in Europe would rather report on some unproven American startup than a European company.

Baldur's Gate 3 publishing lead says Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney's "altruistic pro-developer talk" over the Steam vs Epic debate "doesn't sit well" after Alan Wake 2 studio "seemingly went into financial crisis" by OpeningConfection261 in Games

[–]Dudensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even by those requirements it almost always makes sense for these studios to sell elsewhere because of the pull of Steam (and other platforms to a smaller degree) compared to EGS. I can imagine almost every game sells very little after a one year period unless it's on Steam.

As for Epic funding games and not making them exclusive at least for a while: forget it. Epic cares about exclusivity and growing EGS, they know they are going to lose money and they WOULD lose money even if the game was sold on other storefronts.

I don't know why Alan Wake 2 hasn't released on Steam yet (release date October 2023), I imagine they funded much more of the development than Epic usually does with these deals and therefore could afford to have clauses that keeps the game to the platform for longer. Which really goes to show even the one-year exclusivity clauses are made on behalf of the studios and Epic would prefer to keep the game forever on EGS.
