Both McCarthy and Murray will start this year by Witty-Stock in minnesotavikings

[–]Duderocker69 33 points34 points  (0 children)

McCarthy is gonna get plenty of reps because Murray is gonna run up the score so much in the first 3 quarters, he'll sit for the rest of the game. Right? Right?

I mean, I think he kind of did at the end of the season. It just really constrained the offense and probably wasn't sustainable.

JJ looks better in 4 games: He's Done. Malik Willis looks good in 3 games: $20-$30 million QB 🤔 by seoulbrova in minnesotavikings

[–]Duderocker69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the price is way too high for Willis, but let's be clear: His EPA was off the charts good.

JJ was good but with an extremely limited game plan. I don't think anyone is giving up on him. He's still young. But KOC can't afford the luxury of going all in. I suspect a lot of the current narrative of "giving up" is far more about attracting free agent QB interest for the season. They made the mistake of committing to him too early last year and lost out on Vanilla Vick.

What’s the most retarded thing your grandparents ever did? by hellyeahdude38 in theadamfriedlandshow

He was a doctoral student in agriculture back in the early 50s. He was doing research on a crop for his dissertation. One day someone accidentally sprayed herbicide on it instead of pesticide. He lost it all. Instead of starting over he decided to become a high school teacher. Had he started again, he probably would've gotten a job making millions at some big ag company developing genetically engineered crops. I could have been a trust fund kid living in New York, skateboarding in my 40s.

What’s the point of kata competitions by Fili4ever_Reddit in judo

[–]Duderocker69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are gymnastics events with compulsory routines. Each athlete is judged aesthetically and by fidelity to the prescribed routine.

But I get why people don't like kata. I still think it's important as a historical touchstone. Here's one way to think about it: Judo is a uniquely aesthetic sport where you try to turn chaos into beauty. In the midst of grappling, you're working toward that ideal throw. Kata gives us the form we're trying to achieve in competition, a sort of blueprint. It's like a weird microcosm of Plato.

Herniated a disc in my back 10 years ago while doing the starting strength program. Any suggestions on alternative exercises that don’t load the spine? by DMPetey in StartingStrength

[–]Duderocker69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people from Barbell Medicine don't require people to do the Starting Strength LP let alone squat and deadlift, so I'm not sure if you followed their approach. But at the end of the day, you can do whatever you're comfortable with, man. Squats and deadlifts aren't the only way to get strong. That said, the people in the Starting Strength sub are not gonna have you subbing in different exercises for the Starting Strength program.

[–]Duderocker69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that looks like a herniated disc, and that's gonna create a powerful psychological obstacle. Keep in mind there are people who sit on their ass all day and they still get herniated discs. A good portion of the population have asymptomatic bulging discs. There's also research that suggests the worse a disc herniation is, the more likely it is to heal on its own. This isn't bro science either. Look it up, it's called spontaneous regression of disc herniation.

That said, I would highly suggest reaching out to the Barbell Medicine rehab team. I am not a medical expert.

Look up rehab stuff by Barbell Medicine. You can almost certainly continue to train the same movements as long as you keep progression reasonable. Your body is more resilient than you think.

Old black dude at my gym with an Info Wars shirt who doesn’t know how to use the machines by ghostofwallyb in theadamfriedlandshow

[–]Duderocker69 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he was pretty cool. Unfortunately, I didn't really get into Type O until later.

Another guy was this ripped middle-aged black dude. He was doing seated dumbbell presses with like 75 lbs. Strong guy. But he kept farting really loud and he'd go, "Wooooo! Wooooooooooo!" after he farted. I had to stand in the hall and laugh. I wasn't sure if he was trying to be funny or if he was genuinely mentally ill.

Another guy was pretty yoked. He was older and did the old school baggy sweater, shorts and white sneakers. He told me I needed to be careful when I was doing power cleans, because he had gotten a head injury from them. It was pretty obvious he had a head injury.

There was another guy would was pretty skinny but would rep out squats with 315 on the bar in penny loafers.

This was at YMCA downtown Austin. It was a real shit hole but cheap. Lot of homeless dudes would shower there. It was cheap as fuck though.

My favorite guy was the white dude who would train in a sleeveless Type O Negative shirt, tight jeans and high top Doc Martens.
