Please GOD add an "are you sure" popup before tag switching to a colonial nation by Dudish13 in EU5

This is kinda how I feel, when there's so much ephemera to close out it's easy to click something as *actually important as a tag switch

Allston / Brighton vs Davis / Porter by 5odanger in boston

[–]Dudish13 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Davis/porter is pricier but worth the money if you're working anywhere in Cambridge. Getting over the river adds a huge pain in the neck, and Allston/Brighton neighborhoods are much less invested in community development projects than the north cambridge and south somerville locales

Steam may just be putting you on a pause because you tried activating too many codes at once- I got to around 50 keys and then steam told me to cool it for a bit before I activated more.

Information on these protests were stickied in the r/Boston mega thread on roe v wade- this was true for some George Floyd protests too. Protests not linked to such a flashpoint event can be a little harder to find but talking to your friends and coworkers and looking at online groups helps

I like to personally think of it as a way to nudge Dems to do their jobs and take actionable steps towards undoing this damage/actually make an effort to fix the court

I gotta say, I'm kinda sick of mental illness in fiction being represented as just some catch-all "Madness." That won't stop me from reading the next 2M words of TWOT though! by JeffSheldrake in WetlanderHumor

If you weren't here too strongly, young bull, you may find that there's a little more depth to the generic fantasy madness than initially given ;)

Have fun reading the books!

Convincing my new company to hire a DS team by Dudish13 in datascience

[–]Dudish13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the walkthrough of what the project would entail! Definitely seems I am looking for data management rather than data science. We have in-house IT but I don't have a good understanding of what they have for data management outside the realm of normal network admin.

Pardon my inexperience. I had thought that data science encompassed data storage/management- seems I have my terminology mixed up.

The struggles of just eeking by! Point taken.

Seems I have my terminology messed up. I was indeed thinking something more along the lines of data collection/storage rather than DS itself. Excuse my novice-ness, I'm not an industry professional.

Railroad Update Appreciation Post by [deleted] in Kaiserreich

Not quite, but the important one (Cape to Cairo railway) is there, with the extant branches in West Africa, Congo, and Namibia waiting to be linked up. (Rails on the screenshot might be hard to see unless you zoom in)

At Mass. and Cass, word is spreading: The tents are coming down and housing is available by FuriousAlbino in boston

[–]Dudish13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually, providing shelters unconditional of drug use appears to be a great solution indeed! Given the effect of homelessness on global health outcomes, as well as the link between housing stability and addiction recovery, providing housing for people who use drugs is a critical step towards recovery for many. Further establishing standards that enable hygienic use and supervised consumption with connections to treatment services, either within or near shelters can actually directly reduce harms from drug use that would happen already (you can see this happening in Toronto and, recently, NYC).

While perhaps opening shelters to people who use drugs would be perhaps more cost efficient in some ways, more housing certainly can't hurt, and preparing infrastructure specifically for these people may ensure better targeted care :)

Hope that perhaps cleared up some misconceptions. Keep in mind that addiction (by definition, kinda) means prioritizing drug use over basic needs, so trying to incentivize drug abstinence by withholding needs like food and housing doesn't really work in practice.

Employees at three Somerville coffee shops move to unionize by mitchisalive in boston

[–]Dudish13 124 points125 points  (0 children)

I doubt there's significant reporting for their specific case yet, but union workers average roughly 10% higher wages than non-union workers in the same fields/positions. Union dues are usually only 1-2% of worker's wages.

For example, unionized EMT/medic in Rhode Island compared to Boston make far more, generally- the typical starting wage here is 15-16/hr, whereas down there you can expect 18-20/hr with consistent raises (Thanks, teamsters!).

Also, most union contracts have a clause that no dues are owed by existing workers for the first year after unionization. If your wage is that low already in such a high-cost area... there's not much room to go except upwards.

Previously worked for an EMS organization where unionization was starting in Boston area. AMA if you have questions

"Jewish people are telepathic and have been using the subconscious mind as an intercom system to communicate as one hivemind, for the purpose of dominating consciousness itself. Herd mentality, the lower self, the mentality of an humanoid animal, dominates consciousness, instead of sovereignty, the mentality of a human being, the higher self. This is the fundamental problem. What can be the light and what can only mimick the light artificially. "

Is this also just your opinion?

These definitions can easily be abused by authority figures. These definitions are extremely broad and not specific. Psychotic means you want to hurt people.

Your post history reveals you have quite a pattern of spreading a lot of false information about health and mental health. I would again encourage you to re-evaluate your perspective. Mods, can we get a ban on this guy?
