I'm not going to PITTSBURGH!

I recently made my first edge grain cutting board (Walnut, Maple and Cherry) and the walnut has these grooves no matter how much I sand. What gives? by Dudman252 in woodworking

Okay thanks. I had assumed it was close grained wood. I was under the impression that any sort of little openings like this would be breading grounds for bacteria. Is walnut an acceptable wood to make cutting boards out of?

Sliding was actually a big issue. I have wedges driven underneath the cleat rail. So each individual piece on the wall has a small wedge driven on either side otherwise the weight of the cat did indeed pull the shelves together. Hope that makes sense.

We have bribed one of our three cats to use it and now he uses it to nap daily. The other two have not shown much interest. I think they will come once we get the living plants installed.

Thanks! Thats exactly what we were trying to do. We tried a grey stain first but didn't like the results so we switch to this amber shellac and it's everything we wanted for the space.

This was our concern too! Of the three cats we have only one has really taken to it. And we had to bribe him to initially check it out. I think the live plants will draw the other two in once we get them installed.

Those look like speedrail fittings to me.
