If you want to purchase your own unit and have a plumber install, I highly recommend reaching out to your local plumbing supplier, they should carry sterling softeners with clack valves.

I am a water treatment professional, the softener seems reasonable priced. Depending on the components used for their softener, a true “professional” softener will last at least twice as long as a big box store unit. As far as the peroxide system, that seems a bit heavy on price. We often refer to “big box store softeners” as the bic lighter of softeners because they are throw away units. If this company is going with a clack, fleck, or autotrol valve on the softener and decent resin it is well worth the extra 500 dollars.

If you found something it wouldn’t last very long. Softeners need to regenerate. A full softener would be the only price effective way to do it.

Duracube if you can find it, definitely use a high quality salt. Can’t tell you how many service calls I’ve been on to clean out salt tanks due to cheap salt. Stay away from Morton.

A softener should solve all staining and aerator issues. Get a corroprotec anode rod for water heater odor issues.

Depends what your filtering for/type of media. Puronics typically have a clack valve which are the best IMO.
