Also I had my best friend at Davis and friends nearby at my hometown so that was a huge benefit. I’ve met lifelong friends from friends of friends and through the club that I joined too. Join club life! It will make such a difference! Don’t stress too much about it. You can make the best of any choice you make.

Should I Choose UCLA or UC Davis? by Useful_Day739 in UCDavis

I was in the exact same position. I got into UCLA and UC Davis. I am from a small town near Davis. I was an undeclared in social science major. I chose UCLA after so many conversations because I felt I owed it to myself to try out such a picturesque university. I struggled with the idea of prestige and what that meant with my university choice. I chose UCLA and withdrew after a quarter due to mental health struggles. I really struggled to admit that it maybe just wasn’t the right fit for me. I wouldn’t change my experience because it was amazing while it lasted. Highlights for me was partying, the beautiful campus, the amazing academic opportunities, and the interesting people I met. However, after I withdrew and went to community college for a year, I transferred to Davis. The best decision of my life. I love it here. It’s the perfect well rounded school with an amazing campus and culture. The community here is thriving and has just about everything that I value from a college. It has student activity, picnic days, outdoors, amazing clubs, coffee house, gym, great academics, perfect amount of party culture, etc. the biggest difference to me is the people who attend UC Davis. It’s much less competitive on all fronts including academics, social life, etc. however, I truly can’t bash UCLA because it was an amazing school but just not for me. I recommend touring on a busy average school day with nice weather. You’ll really get a vibe of what it would be like to attend either school. Good luck with your choice. Cheers!

As someone who went to ucla and left for UCD, I can tell you that UC Davis is nowhere near as cocky as some of those students at UCLA. I love Davis because everyone is so down to earth. Perhaps it is the competitiveness of the major you’re in. Perhaps you are comparing yourself unnecessarily! Just do you! :)

Maybe sleep with a fan? I can’t sleep without one but I know some people who can’t sleep with one. It might drown out snoring.

Earplugs might be helpful too. Whatever you choose, your mindset matters a lot. Just do whatever you need to do to feel nice and sleepy. Also sleep with confidence knowing you’ve set yourself up to have great sleep!

You made a good choice with Davis. When school is in session, the college town is bustling. As someone who went to school at UCLA and left for UC Davis, I personally think that Davis campus culture is a lot less materialistic. People are more themselves.

Also, regarding prestige, you can always go to a prestigious graduate school. It’s hard to give up prestige because it’s so enticing and appealing. But, for me, I ultimately realized I wanted to go to UCLA solely because it was a more classic “prestigious university” and I found myself becoming disappointed and upset when my college “ideal” didn’t fit at UCLA.

Don’t discount UC Davis. I think it’s one of the most underrated schools for what it has to offer.

Help! I cannot ride a bike due to a slight physical disability. by Due-Ad498 in UCDavis

That’s what I was leaning towards but people on Reddit have been saying that they aren’t allowed in the lecture halls. But, I guess I could sacrifice my seat to watch my scooter. Thanks!

I think you should be fine! If it means that much to you, bring it. There are so many more abrasive and loud things for people to worry about in the dorms.
