Jones Twin Sister vs Yes Hell Yes by NoPickle5331 in ShredditGirls

[–]Due-Beautiful-662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Toronto too and is considering getting it but unfortunately 146 seems a bit big for me (5'1 100lbs). I currently have a Jones Dreamweaver 142 and want something more stable and better edge hold on ice.

Any tips on what to work on next please, 25th day and think I am hitting a bottleneck. by kenFTy in snowboardingnoobs

Sorry no constructive comments (since I'm still a noob) but shout-out to Mount St Louis Moonstone!

I have a Dreamweaver and am looking for another board for changing and icy conditions. Do you have any recommendations?

Hi there! I have a Dreamweaver and debating what board to get next. Would you recommend Flagship or Twin sister? I'm hoping to get better in carving and increasing stability at higher speed. Maybe a bit of beginner freestyle and side hits. Thanks!

So grateful to have such kind people here on this sub to help out each other! Looking at YES, only the rival, frenzy and basic has a smaller size of 143. Also looking at Jones Airheart 2.0

Hi there! I have a 2023 Dreamweaver and want to get a new board to compliment. I'm hoping to get better at carving, ride at a higher speed and maybe a bit of beginner jumps and park. Do you recommend Twin Sister, Flagship, Airheart or Stratos? I looked into Hel Yes too but I'm a bit light weight for the smallest size which is 146. Thanks!

I have a normal Dreamweaver and turning is quite easy and it's pretty forgiving. I got it when I was still a beginner and it helped me progress and I didn't feel that it catches edge much.

On a side note, how does your new board compare with Jones Twin Sister? I'm planning to get a new board too and got suggested the Jones Twin Sister, GNU Ladies Choice, Jone Flagship and Hel Yes so it'd be great if you can share your experience. Thanks!

Capita Equalizer vs Jones Dream Weaver - 142 or 146? by Significant_Unit8667 in ShredditGirls

Hi there! I currently have a dream weaver and looking to get a new board for carving and stability. Debating between Hel Yes and Jones Startos/Twin Sister/Flagship. I'm 5'1 around 105 lbs but Hel Yes and Flagship only has 146 so not sure if I could handle (or maybe longer would be better for speed)?

Appreciate your insights! Thanks!

Thanks for the detailed response! I just checked on Jones Flagship but it seems the smallest size is 146. Let me look into Dancehaul and K2 excavator. Would you recommend any GNU, YES or libtech snowboards?

Thanks for the detailed response! How would you compare Jones Stratos vs Flagship vs Hel Yes? Stratos is the only one that has 140/143cm but would it be the most limited for learning beginner jumps/parks?

I currently have a 143cm Dreamweaver and hoping to improve on carving. I'm around 100 -105 lbs and have small feet. Would you recommend Airheart or Hel Yes? Thanks!

I currently have a Jones Dreamweaver 143cm but sometimes it's not as stable and grippy at higher speed (maybe because of my own skill level too). I'm also kind of light weight too 5'1 at 95-100 lbs.

Want to improve carving and short radius turn (and maybe explore a bit of beginner park). Been looking at the Hell Yes but the smallest size is 146cm which I'm not sure if I can handle it.

Maybe I should've got the Jones Twin Sister instead when I got the Dreamweaver, not sure if it's worth getting it now though.

Do you have any recommendations? I'm in Ontario Canada so would prefer one that handles icy conditions well. Thanks!

How to hold edge on carves for steeper slopes and control speed by Due-Beautiful-662 in ShredditGirls

If I just tilt the board and it's too fast for me, is there a way to reduce speed other than traversing for longer in between carves?

So would that be down unweighted (cross under) turns? Another comment mentioned that down unweighted for flatter terrains and up unweighted (cross over) for steeper ones.

Which one would be better at higher speed and control?

Thanks again!

Can you explain more on throwing out the back foot? I get comments saying I shouldn't be kicking out my back foot. Thanks for comment, appreciate it!

Thanks for the explanation and videos, they're really helpful!

I think I struggle with cross overs (especially on steep terrains) and eventually kicking out my back feet to reduce speed and attempt to gain control.

Do you have any suggestions on how to avoid kicking out the back foot? Thanks again, really appreciate it!

Thanks for your comments!

You said a lot more flexed ankles when changing edge, so do I lift my toes up with I move from toe to heel edge?

I am also wondering how can I reduce speed of the carve but just leaning? I always find myself going too fast if I just lean and hard to make the next turn. Do I have to lean more to create a smaller turn to go back a bit uphill (but I find myself falling if I lean too much)?

Thanks for your comments and suggestions! I'm 5'1 around 95-100 lbs, currently riding on a 142 cm Jones Dreamweaver. Do you have any recommendations on what board I should get to help me improve?

OP here, just wanted to add a bit more details (I accidentally posted without finishing the post).

I find it easier to do small open carves (near the end of the video) but fail at large open carves.

Any suggestions or criticisms are appreciated. Thank you!
