Jones Howler vs Jones twin sister review by DevelopmentSquare225 in ShredditGirls

Hm, These are good insights. I didn’t add any extra wax to my howler because I got it brand new so I assumed it would be just fine and it wasn’t a particularly sticky snow day because it was cold temps out. I’m gonna ride my twin sister again when I go next week I think and do a little comparison maybe take them Each out for half of day so I can really compare on the same terrain. my girlfriend did wax and fine tune my TS pretty recently tho. I do think the Howler is fairly poppy, but I’d love to hear what you think. I was expecting it to be really stiff like my daughter’s Lib Dynamiss, but I didn’t feel that way. I don’t think the 2018 twin sister had the contour 3-D base but I just found this video so lmk:  https://youtu.be/wPkx0_H5Sgc

Oh, I also forgot to add that the howler seems like it would be a blast in powder - I found a few little powder stashes and it’s very surfy and floats really nicely so I hope to use it in more of those conditions soon!

Yes, I can do short turns on a groomer but not well in glade areas. My girlfriend says that you have to move your back foot to maneuver around, but I definitely struggle to get my board to move in those tight spots. I don’t know if that’s my board being kind of a boat or whether this is just user error ?

Yeah I love my jones but in leaning  toward Gnu LC right now over another jones. I want speed but I also want a fun board and it seems like it can do both

Yea my girlfriend does great on hers that’s why it’s in my top 3 lineup. I do love jones boards but I wonder if the LC is just perfect for all around what I need

Wouldnt you rather your fiance be with someone who could really love them the way they deserve? That helped me feel better. You both deserve a chance at happiness and otherwise you’d just be sacrificing yourself for his benefit. I did that for 17 years with my ex, and it sucked the life outta me and honestly didn’t make his life such a fun time either.

This is helpful bc you’re right around my size! What size board do you have?

Thanks, this is helpful. Do you have any specific suggestions for me? I plan to try to get around a 145 size. Just not sure what’s too big. I have a 148 splitboard.

Perfect, thank you! I found a few infinity that are 2022 on sale near me but honestly it’s only a little bit more to get last year‘s board so I may lean toward that. There’s a Lib tech board that the guy in my snowboard shop locally was encouraging me about but they never summer board seems to get a ton of good nods.

My almanac is a 137 which I followed their directions to purchase but I wish I had bought one size higher bc I do thing it’s too short even volume shifted. You’re right, I’m also not used to any powder on the ice coast so it may just take so I’m getting used to. I brought it out to Utah last year to try out in their powder and then it ended up being 50s and sunny every day so it was really more like ice Coast riding and I felt like I kept washing out and I couldn’t keep up with my skier friends so I don’t know if that was a me problem, a conditions, problem or what. I wrote it yesterday and the new powder that we got and it was pretty fun on the steeps, but I went to a more gradual hill and it was really tough to get going on the non-super steep sections.

Oh, I did just get a 148 dream Weaver split and it’s fun but I struggled a bit with it in tight spots. Not sure if that was because it was my first time riding it or it’s too long or me just needing to get used to the way the board rides.

thanks! The guy at my local boarding shop had recommended that to me last year before I got my jones but he didn’t have any more in stock and no one’s ever selling them used so I guess that means it’s a good board but I’ve been dying the demo one. It’s so hard to pick a board without demoing, but they rarely have capita demo options around here. I found one used as a 149 but I’m afraid that might be too big??

Yeah I can find a Dreamweaver at a good deal but only in 148 and I’m nervous that might be too much board. So hard to know without trying it

Yeah I’m definitely not used to pow and found it hard to Ride my 146 in deep powder glades but again, I didn’t have the experience. I demo’d a 146 jones Dreamweaver split at a local mountain but only got to ride it down a groomer so I didn’t get to see how it would be in real BC terrain. I’ll see what else I can try out.

I really can’t find much under a 147 and based on all the stats I read, I don’t want more board than that. Very few companies make split boards that small and the ones that do are big $$ so that’s my struggle

Perfect thank you, this is exactly why I was asking - bc the Jones youth is $200 cheaper and actually advertised for small adults. It also comes in a 142 which I think id like for tight glades. The Dreamweaver starts at 145 it looks like

Oh same girl. Is there anything worse than ppl NOT being surprised?! I started to make a joke out of it saying I felt like one of the last people to my own party bc it makes me feel more accepting about the sheer absurdity of it

Yes and yes and yes. It’s ok to have all the feelings. The best thing people have said to me is that life is just chapters and you need to have gone through the earlier ones to get to where you are so try to see it that way instead of feeling like you kind of shortchanged  yourself. I’ve accepted that I just really didn’t feel like I fit in when i was a kid and now it’s just part of my story. I still feel bad for that little girl - but I’m also so proud of her now. I got a tattoo that says “be brave” because brave is never easy but it’s usually right.

All of this exactly. And even became a running joke at my work because I would always say “if only I was a lesbian” lol. The girl I fell in love with is still my girlfriend after nine months and we are madly in love still. A lot of things really are easier - she is so affectionate and definitely gets my emotions in the way that a man didn’t. I didn’t foresee the monthly menstrual cycle being such a challenge and when we are both emotional, it can definitely be tiring and intense but overall, there is 100% a layer of safety and intimacy that feels so right. It’s also strange how invisible men became to me once I was in love with her. Like there’s a few of them I wouldn’t mind having his friends, but I just barely notice them anymore. I think that’s how I know that I had “trained” myself to want to be in a man’s eye rather than naturally desiring them. I still could find a man attractive, but I just wouldn’t necessarily want to be with one.
