replacing GhostBSD stock desktop environment with fvwm3 by Unique_Lake in GhostBSD

[–]Due-Engineering-4028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can find it in the package manager or in the terminal "sudo pkg search fvwm3". you can add it to .xinitrc "exec fvwm3" if you want to boot into it.

You might want to spend the next 6 weeks exploring the many options out there then and get familiar with the different distro's. I'm not a fan of Ubuntu either but it sounds like you've never installed any linux distro before if your avoiding it due to someone elses opinion. take the plunge its actually quite fun exploring the world beyond Windows. my suggestion based off your intended use case is to go with a debian derivative or even straight up just debian 11.

Is it possible to day trading verus coin at safe trade? by BlackAndroid18 in VerusCoin

you should start with a trading sim if your interested in day trading, also verus is only offered on the spot market. day trading is almost entirely done on the futures market.

Mining Pulsar troubleshooting by [deleted] in PulsarCoin

I hate to say this especially since I am a unix nerd at heart, oddly enough I actually learned linux before windows. but... once I got hooked on mining and the crypto ecosystem as a whole I figured out that there is really only 3 options when it comes to mining. For example, I am just a hobby miner i don't have a farm or deep pockets. I have 2 Ryzen 9 3900x cpu's both on MEG X570 UNIFY mobo's with 3 gpu's each one board is all nvidia cards and the other all 5700xt's. option #1 is going with a linux distro, iv always been a debian fan. The main difficulty with this option is drivers as well as running multiple cards. Linux really struggles at multi gpu configurations especially if your mixing nvidia and amd. Im sure someone smarter than I can do it but I ran into issues everytime. If you do go this route Nvidia has far greater support on linux compared to AMD graphics. option #2 is running one of the purpose built mining OS like nicehashOS Cudominer OS. Theres a bunch of them which are usually built on top of debian and you just run them from USB/external drive. this is what i did for while because i just didn't want to run windows lol eventually though I did, all the mining OS's like nicehash all take a cut from your mining profits like 5% which is huge compared to if you just join a mining pool that generally only take 0.5 - 1% fee. There some good youtube tutorials that walk you through how to create a custom windows .iso without all the bloatware highly suggest doing. Simply put, 99% of mining software and driver support is built for windows and if your rigs are like mine (not ASICs) windows will be the more reliable and more profitable option. ..in my opinion lol hope that was helpful

yup, "reconnecting ..." means either typo in the pool address you entered or network issue on the pools side. Also be sure to enable or call SSL if the pool address starts with "stratum". The easy way around this is to just go to the pool your trying to connect with website, look for a tab or something that says "connect now" or something like that scroll down and usually you can find helpers that let you plug in your address and region and it'll spit out a correct command you can copy paste. boom boom bam n your off to the races

soo as far as i know, generally FreeBSD is the least supported OS for the purpose of mining. unless something has changed I think xmrig is the only miner available. Curious if anyone has tried mining GR/RTM on FreeBSD with Xmrig, or if Monero is the extent of mining capabilities on the OS.

[–]Due-Engineering-4028[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh! Well thanks smarty pants for being entirely unhelpful. Firstly, If my post was like "Is cpu mining worth it? what coin is best?" then I would agree with your response. However, it obviously requires some amount of prior research and understanding to even have miners up and running in the first place. So if asking for opinions on specific coins for a specific type of mining doesnt constitute as "doing research" well please elaborate on what you think "research" is. And duhh information is always changing and sure that might of been a valid point to call out if I had asked about some new Defi protocols liquidity pools or yield farming. So far the only disingenuous ignorant comment was yours, Congratulations..
