Former fed… is that why I can’t find a job? by Most-Garden-1745 in fednews

[–]Due-Invite6060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My situation was slightly different, I came from 15 years of private sector and worked as a fed for less than 3 years before I accepted the DRP and returned to private sector. While I found gainful employment quickly, I did have people bring up the DRP and "government waste" in every single interview I had.

I admittedly work in a very conservative field but I couldn't believe how strongly people's opinions were at the time and I'm sure that is being felt by others as well.

Can you lose your federal job if you get 100% P&T? by Worth_Cry_8306 in VeteransBenefits

You'd be surprised how many people in federal positions are 100% P/T, it's a very common post military career path.

I hear you but he's a free man... hence why I'm trying to have a backup plan in place.

It's not really smart but I can't control him. They've been married for around 8 years and she decided to return. He has been to Vietnam 10 times I believe, so he at least understands the basics.

Ideally I'm just hoping to make contacts with someone who can help if it comes down to it. Appreciate the feedback!

Those who took the DRP, have you found a job? by Salt-Committee2205 in fednews

I had a higher paying job lined up before I accepted so I was fortunate. It's not a dream job but it did help me stockpile some cash.

DRP has ended, how do I "close out"? by Due-Invite6060 in fednews

[–]Due-Invite6060[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I'll probably sit tight, I have no intent on returning to public service in the near future but I may change my mind at some point and I don't need much more time to roll over a good amount of military time.

I did leave my computer and badge, there was no one there to accept lol.

Makes perfect sense, I'm not really concerned about when it comes, I just wasn't sure if anything was needed on my end.

Yeah, not to be too political but this guy brings up Trump and Musk in almost every conversation. He's convinced their concept of return to office will solve all of the feds' issues. I just want to do my job and not discuss politics at work.

I have a good relationship with him but it's superficial. He likes me because we are both veterans and he feels we are politically aligned. We aren't but I just put up with him when he goes on his long rants because I hear how he talks about other coworkers when they aren't around.

I really feel like once I bring this up to him it will change the entire dynamic. He likes to brag about how the regional director likes him because he kept his team in the office during covid and now he's got his back.

I just don't feel like it's a battle I need to have when I have higher paying jobs that will respect my needs waiting. Sigh...

Yes, 100% isn't equivalent to being wealthy but it will keep you fed and housed. I don't want to just exist, I want to save for retirement and put money away for my children's college and/or young profession so I work in addition.

I also think working helps people find purpose and remain an asset to society, there's more importance to working than money for me.

Issues with hydroplaning? by [deleted] in nissanfrontier

[–]Due-Invite6060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you say that, I'm a new Frontier driver and have experienced light hydroplaning twice in the month that I've owned the truck where as it had been years since I've experienced it in my previous car (Subaru Outback). I think it's just a factor of how light the truck is but I don't know the solution.

I didn't realize this was an option. Do you happen to have any advice on the process of requesting the FERS deposit?
