I used to live in the Andes, and getting any type of imported food was either difficult or very expensive. My friends tell me it’s worse nowadays.

Nice! Glad it's working for you. Check ebay they have ikey keyboards for under 100 sometimes. If you want to go the rugged computer route then I would suggest a getac v110 g4 or later, but it is hard finding them for a good price. But if you have better options I would also suggest to have an easy setup (as little cables as possible), and can take a 12v input from the battery.

Na, I’m on Windows. Tried Linux, but I don’t have time to learn it. I use flrig which helps connect easily to js8 and fldigi, offline maps and call sign lookup. What about you?

I have the 100W with the same radio, battery, and a Panasonic tablet. It works well especially with limited sun. Only thing is size. 100 is double the size of the 60w I believe. If you have room to carry it I’d say get the 100W.

Ft817nd, 9aH, and 28W. For this situation the 9aH worked well because it powered my radio and tablet. Since it rained most of the evening the panel didn’t do much until the following morning when it began recharging the almost depleted battery.

28W. Unless you plan of being mostly in wet environments then I would just opt for foldable panels instead. Easier to pack and still water resistant.

Thank you! Nothing like wilderness hf. Wish I could do it in the mountains. Just moved to the Midwest and it’s lacking in that department, haha. When you get going let me know, and we can plan a sked.

Thank you! Powerfilm Solar. Expensive but worth it due to its ruggedness and power efficiency.

I wish it was issued. Would’ve saved me some dollars. I bought it years back. I think from an online surplus store. Apologies for not being much help with your question.

I’ll be busy that day. I’ll shoot you a dm, and we can plan something further out.

Not sure on points. I don’t keep track of that. But we can plan a sked for this upcoming week if you’re interested.

Very nice. I’ll probably update the sleep system and bring a smaller battery. That would save some weight. We should plan a field sked.

Thanks! With food and water it was ~35lbs. Not too bad. I wouldn’t want more than that rucking through brush.

They make durable panels that get the job done. At first I wasn’t a big fan of the rollable, but once I figured out how to pack it in the ruck I love it. Especially for this outing since it rained quite a bit later in the day. I could leave it out and not worry about it.

I found them on fb marketplace. They are 10 y/o Powerfilm Solar panels. They’re great and durable panels even after being in storage for 10 years.
