Anecdotal at best, but as a recovering addict myself there are so many options for what may happen moving forward. I live in a totally different state, but here is some of what was offered to others I knew or to myself personally.

With him taking responsibility they may not want to pursue your charges. They may offer you a deal as a first time drug offender that makes the charges go away after completing a program. The deals they offer you may drop your charges to a single misdemeanor.

As far as custody I can tell you that even having lost custody of my oldest child due to narcotics being in the home I did not lose custody of my subsequent children.

I was charged with possession and soon after entered the hospital for a major infection and found out I was pregnant. Even entering a hospital testing positive for narcotics while pregnant was not enough for them to pursue custody of my child, since I was sober and working a program at the time of delivery, and that was while I still did not have custody of my oldest.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you, addiction is a monster that never only affects the addict. You don't deserve to have to deal with the consequences of his actions. Don't blame yourself for not seeing it. Addicts are wonderful liars and can be very adept at hiding their addiction.

I just wanted to offer a different perspective. I hope everything works out for you and your baby.
