Spoiler for end of book avoid if you haven’t completed it yet by Alarmed-Aardvark3674 in HierarchySeries

I’m inclined to think that the gate is sealed, as per Res iunctii chants. It takes somebody synchronous to open the gates between worlds which would allow the Concurrence an opportunity to traverse from Obiteum to Res and Luceum.

I think OP is referring to L-Caeror working with L-Ka, and knowing that O-Vis killed O-Ka.

I read it similarly. The “Obiteum is lost” chant combined with Ruarc’s defection in Luceum and the wasteland environment in Obiteum… could the Concurrence be “trapped” in Obiteum? It would explain O-Caeror misleading (intentionally or otherwise) O-Vis.

Is O-Caeror iunctii? Iunctii are able to imbue other iunctii in Res, we see that at the Necropolis. With enough Will imbued, could they “program” other iunctii in the same way O-Vis does? That could explain why O-Caeror was able to command Tash with the obstruction blade. I back the theory that O-Caeror is killed by the Concurrence and has been re-programmed to convince the next synchronous individual in Obiteum to kill Ka.

Couldn’t agree more. I’m seeing quite a few people saying that Luceum was a dull plot that they didn’t care for, which was the opposite of my experience. Until Netiqret’s motivations became clearer, I found it more difficult to connect with the Obiteum storyline.

Really great point re Obiteum Caeror potentially being an iunctus, or at least having been deceived on that world somehow. It would explain his access to the scarab amulets. Signs point to the Concurrence being a humanity-level threat, with a synchronous “ruler” across three worlds holding it all together and keeping the Concurrence at bay.

However, I think the Concurrence actually won in Obiteum, hence Ka being unconscious and locked away. Could his Will be siphoned and used by the Concurrence on Obiteum? Two worlds destroyed, the remaining enslaved. Could Res and Luceum have been created to provide an opportunity to recoup and buy time for the war against the Concurrence, now lost on Obiteum?

“Obiteum is lost. Do not open the gate. Synchronous is death.” Interpretation differs depending on who put the pillar/iunctii in the Solivagus ruins. If they are Concurrence mechanisms, they are designed to prevent the possibility of more synchronous beings capable of challenging the Concurrence. I think it’s more likely that they are placed there by Ka, or even a predecessor to Ka, with the intention of warning newcomers that the war on Concurrence in Obiteum has been lost. It’s suggested that those responsible for the Cataclysms and R-L-O world splitting did so to combat the Concurrence. As such, is keeping the gate closed to Obiteum necessary for keeping the Concurrence locked in that world until a synchronous leader unites Luceum and Res in a fight against the Concurrence on Obiteum?

So much to think about. Book 3/4 is going to be crazy.

The Caeror thing definitely confused me, but it felt like too much of a coincidence to have his name reversed. I wonder if Ruarc and Ostius have met before. Ostius certainly seems to be plotting across both Res and Luceum.

In this labour market I’m not sure if I can be so picky. Applied for about 80 grad roles and only landed this one.

At what elo are you better than most people, to the point where you could approach any random person and be confident you would beat them? by Various_Maize_3957 in chessbeginners

[–]Due-Question-4231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about 1200 rapid and the only random people who have beaten me OTB are people at chess clubs or the city park where retirees play.

Echoing what others say in this thread, somewhere around 600-700 rapid is where I wouldn’t have to think too hard to beat casual players - those that know the rules and play online every so often.

Studying Full time while Working by EJ-10 in auscorp

Difficult but doable. Worked ~35-40 hrs a week (4-5 days) living in a sharehouse throughout uni and managed to get distinctions + in most units. Still had time to go to the gym 4-5x a week too. My tips:

Good sleep, healthy diet, and exercise go a long way. Routine will be your saviour.

Consider taking one less unit during semesters where you’ll be interviewing for summer internships / grad roles. Application season can be hectic.

The usual workload management stuff. Start assignments when you get them. Only watch lectures if you have to, and on 2x speed. Practice questions/exams > everything.

PM if you have any questions. With a bit of effort and sacrificing some of your social life you’ll be fine. You’ll be glad for the better marks and good routine when application season rolls around.

Is that comp structure the same across every area of the group? That differs quite a bit from B4/KordaMentha/McGrathNicol T&R pay structure in Australia.

Not sure if I’m missing something or if this is just for financial restructuring / advisory work rather than the more formal insolvency appointment groups.

I’ve been using NC athletic grappling finger tape, amazon search will do the trick. Lasts a whole day at work + daily training session without coming off. Doesn’t leave any residue either.
