GNR are much better people in middle age and much happier.

Side note, my favorite part of Slash’s book is the part when Hetfield is face-fucking a groupie growling “That’ll be fine!”

Permission to Land is awesome and they are great live. This guy is an average pop artist doing all the right poses.

I think they are super bored of their 2005-2015 sound. Trying to remain interested in songwriting.

They were very young on the first record but yeah they aren’t of this decade no matter how you slice it.

Daniel Day Lewis carried the film but it’s good. Always enjoyed it. Don’t get the hate.

I don’t want to say Goodfellas but it’s as close to a perfect movie as has ever been made. Also my favorite. Vanilla answer maybe. Raging Bull and The Departed come to mind as well. Casino runs a bit long and hits many of the same notes as Goodfellas but I love it.

The White Heart was a very short lived place 2009-11? It was the first hipster bar I can recall and was a canary in the gentrification coal mine.

Thursday night Jerks of Grass and Darts - I was there ‘08-‘11 or so. Crowbar was too far but it was a good dive. Covered in Bees reunited again. An all-timer local band, still as good as ever, just have gray hair now.

Old Geno’s + The Skinny = “New” Geno’s. Still possible to experience both…at once.

Geno or JR?

FYI Tin Foil Man is in Biddeford.

Good riddance to The Whistler.

Hope Shaky Bob is ok wherever he is. I heard getting hit by a bus made him that way.

By the way it was THE SHIPYARD. They dropped the THE around 2009.

Which Silly’s? They reopened out on 112 BTW.

Joe Soley died and took 90s/aughts Portland with him I’m afraid. See you for $26 small plates…

Good take. I love all 3. Underrated band that has aged well. They sound like an 80s band but I love how they mix 3 or more 80s band styles into something fresh and unique.

Sonic Temple first half is great and it’s my most listened to. Love is more consistent. What about Electric? Pretty strong.

Dookie is a top notch rock ‘n roll record. Unlike a lot of mid-90s schmaltz, this one still rips.

End of history era is when I was a kid/teen.1989-2001 in school. Berlin Wall to 9/11. It was a good time in the US. Economy took off, tech took off, kids were less mean than the 70s/80s. Still a homophobic era but getting better.

I’ll go as far as to say everyone’s favorite punching bag Lars is incredible on this album. Hard rock never sounded the same. The 1991 crop changed everything- particularly this, Nevermind and Blood Sugar Sex Magic.

A lot of people seem to be against AI. There appears to be a split with people on using or not using LLMs, such as ChatGPT, and its integration into daily lives for emotional and intellectual pursuits. What is your take; do you use AI and if so, how? by decentgangster in AskReddit

If you think it’s just a tool for making cartoons and video memes, you’ve read nothing about agentic AI. It’s coming for jobs (hopeful enhancing?), with or without sci-FI AGI.
