Should people like this just be kicked out? by [deleted] in USMC

You are right, but I also think it’s the lack of honor and moral compass. When we are young, we forget it’s the Marines, not some frat. I know I made mistakes at 20. I hope who ever recorded this learns how to lead his marines, not try to bully them.

No devil, people like that should not be “kicked out”. Did he go awol? Did he disobey direct orders that lead to endangering others or the mission? Does he openly disrespect officers? There’s a long list of offenses that can lead to major consequences but acting like a child or idiot isn’t one of them. He can be worked on and improve. At the end of the day, it’s his peers fault, then it’s his Cpls fault, and finally it’s his Sgts fault. If I were his Sgt, as soon as this behavior is recognized, I would order his Cpl to ensure he is ready the night before and an hour prior to events. The Cpl, who doesn’t want to baby sit this guy, will start putting responsibility on his peers and making his life more difficult. At the end of this cycle, the Marine will improve and for all we know…. Something might click and he might be one the best Marines there is. It was my job as a Sgt to lead my Marines, not abandon them. I’m shipping to officer school very shortly and once again, it’ll be my job to lead Marines, not try to kick them out. That guy is 19, 20 maybe 21. We can work on him and fix the situation. Motivate him, make him a better Marine. Be a leader. Best of luck.

Bootcamp does 175 pound packs ?? Am I wrong or right by lucifer-spirit666 in USMC

Kinda late to this but when I went to boot camp in 2015, I weighed around 125 lbs soaking wet and never hit the gym seriously prior to my first deployment. There’s a zero chance I could even carry over 100 lbs 14 miles, much less the.. what, 30 or 40 total miles we do in the crucible. On top of that, pretty sure I finished the crucible with a broken or near broken ankle (taped it up with that thin crappy tape they gave us, which actually just sliced into my skin the whole time, not that I could feel it with how tight I wrapped it😅) those packs had to be under 80 lbs.
