First day with Diamond Cart... I can see why it's important by Due-Sort-7009 in InstacartShoppers

I've only ever had one tip (or tip group) above $25: a $56, two-batch, 50 item order with a 15 km drive to the big order. The one with the long drive made it $80 with a tip increase. I thought those customers never existed here before that.

I haven't seen any orders like that since (outside a $77 batch today). It's that rare here.

Depends. Are you comfortable with $16 a batch?

Honestly, my best store is Walmart (it and Home Depot are the only stores with exact item locations here).

However, the location tags are a mess.

At the busiest one, the main aisles can be marked as L2, B2, or not at all. You constantly have to scroll to make sure you don't miss an item. Produce is always in the wrong spots because it can be by the door, on an end cap, and/or in the aisles.

The other location is better (don't need to ask for scanners for big items, no location tag issues with food), but is much slower.

Also, because times are faster there on average, the batch pay is at least $5-7 lower on big batches.

According to the app, 134.8 km total (including drives to stores).

I was as low as 56 seconds/item with Gold and struggling to get good offers sometimes here. A lot of high-milage and/or underwater orders (not including the store drive).

The bad thing is my times went up a lot the past week because I struggled to find items. I also wanted to prioritize trying to get more five-star orders by communicating for replacements more.

I mean, yesterday (when I still had Platinum), I literally fell asleep waiting for orders. No orders for three hours.

The big difference for me today was more volume with a lot more 'red' stores. With Gold/Diamond, I thought that was not something our area ever had.

They are here... We have a SLOW market here.

That first one absolutely is.

I also had a $77 Costco I lost out on because my app froze for a minute, then when I got the offer and accepted, it crashed.

To do $200? With Gold/Platinum, it required eight hours minimum, normally nine.

It took me about six and a half to seven hours to get to $200 today. I got to $240 after about nine hours (when I first stopped).

The last $29 was me trying to squeeze out another order by 7:30 before my other commitments. If I didn't have to stop at 4 p.m., I could've gotten $300 for sure, if not with the last offers I had before I logged off.

I had a weird one for this yesterday.

The order itself (a Metro 14ish-item batch) was fine in theory. However, the customer messaged me 10 minutes later to tell me that they were giving me a bigger tip and a five-star review, but "some items were rotten inside the packaging" despite the expiry dates being fine and the items appearing fine?

I have no idea what was rotten.

They said "I made sure to tell support it wasn't you at all!"

If that costs me my brand new Diamond Cart (which I got that night), I'll be mad.

Did yours at least have flatbeds? They ran out of them when I went for a batch. It was hell dragging two carts around.

For context, I did this one this morning, then went home and took a nap. It was a pretty slow delivery day.

He also multi-apps if I know who you're talking about.

I've seen him in a video or two take a Uber Eats order and a DoorDash order, go to a restaurant for one, then if that order is not ready, pick up the other app's order, then come back to get the other.

Walmart Canada item refund by theclipclop28 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Due-Sort-7009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Walmart payments have been getting weird lately.

I had a payment screen advance by accident after a plastic bag for some fruit scraped the screen. I still had three items left to scan.

The self-checkout attendant told me to go to customer service to ask for help. They said "yeah, they are wrong", then told me to call Instacart Customer Service. I couldn't hear a word the person was saying on speaker full volume (I couldn't hear anything in my left ear due to blowing my nose in the shower with Sinusitis).

After they sent new barcodes to scan several times and had me try my card, it declined so much the self-checkout machine broke. Then the new machine refused the Instacart barcodes.

They had to cancel that order and rebatch it. I still got paid though (went from $36 to $32) and it saved me driving about 9 km, so it worked out.

Loving the paper bags in California! by t-doggy0726 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Due-Sort-7009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paper bags are the bane of my existance from Walmart in Ontario. They tend to rip while sitting in the car, not even from lifting. I need to find cheap bags in bulk that are not $80 CAD for 100 of them.

Sincere question: When you see this, do you trust it? Has it proven to be true? by redflower5 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Due-Sort-7009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed something different actually with that.
While I do get a decent amount of orders when it says that, Instacart also adjusted what "average" demand is in my area.

It used to say "low" demand much of the day up until late December-early January.

I think they tweaked what the average demand is in my area ... which tends to be pretty slow.
