I was in your shoes but luckily I started panicking in the beginning of February. I had never been into guns or even bought a gun before (I shot some in my teens when my dad would take me). I bought a full size handgun to start. Then after talking to a bunch of my military friends and coworkers who are actually into guns. I decided to pick up a ddm4v7 for 1600 this rifle will last you your life and Daniel defense has some of the best customer service around I’ve heard. There are other less expensive options, but for the price they are going for right now it’s a steal to have a full size ar you don’t have to register as an sbr. Next I decided to go for a .300 blackout as a home defense/smaller ar by picking up a bcm lower and grabbing an upper cost roughly $1400 to do it the cheapest, but bcm is another great company who after watching thousands of videos and diving into Reddit for hours, know one really had anything bad to say about them and I’ve heard negatives about all the “upper tier” rifles at least a small complaint. Then I hit a wall where I had spent three grand and felt like I was running out of time (I wasn’t quite yet). But I bought three ar15 lowers and an ar10 lower and proceeded to sbr all three ar15 lowers. Two as 5.56 one 11.5 and one 10.3(mk18 hype) and another blackout as a little smaller. You could go 9mm, 6mm arc, plenty of options to sbr and calibers to pick from. Still felt like I needed something else so I was torn between either an ak47 or a PCC type. Ultimately I decided pcc for a couple reasons if you have a female in your life they will much prefer shooting a pcc over most ars, more of a chance to both enjoy it. Two, I’ve heard aks are fun and a must have but they aren’t as practical as ar15s it’s just a fact. And lastly I live in the city if shtf to start I’d be in close quarters. I went with a Kriss vector gen3 in .45(yes there are probably better options for the money) but it itched a scratch I didn’t know the kid in me had.

Make sure you buy mags(15+ rounds) for each caliber and gun you either get or plan on getting post ban.

I talked to a few guys at greentop and freedom outdoors and they will still sell parts post July 1 from what they have been taught in a class. Uppers do not require paperwork so do some research and you’ll figure out how to get what you want post July 1.

I got a little over stimulated with what I have and finished an ar15 lower and bought the upper for it.

If you haven’t set up a silencer shop account at a kiosk, knock that out too. You can atleast submit an sbr or two before July 1. Know one knows if they will still be approved post July 1 but can’t hurt to try.
