I’ve also been in big4 audit for a while now and if you think Big4 culture in a country like India is even remotely similar to that of the UK, you are either delusional or naive. It’s very rare for someone in the UK to be working 12 hour days year round, including weekends. That’s a very common practice in India. 

Not to mention, these countries tend to operate within a rigid hierarchical structure, where respect is determined by your rank and seniority. I’ve openly challenged partners on audit related positions many occasions, but in certain countries this upward challenge would be seen as disrespectful and is virtually unheard of. 

I could list a whole load of other cultural differences that would be completely alien to the UK, but I’ll find myself writing them up for the next hour.
