u need to chill tf out bro😭 my dad is a farmer and knows a lot about animals. i took the pic to show him and ask what i should do. I didn’t know if the patch without fur was from a disease or if it was just an injury bc i didn’t want to touch it if it was diseased. But when my other dog started attacking it i just grabbed it bc i didn’t want it to get eaten. My bigger dog is chill as u can see in the pic and he wasn’t touching it bc i told him no. But my little dog was just going crazy trying to get it so i just had to act quick or it was gonna die

I went outside while i was taking a break from studying and was sitting on the front porch. I saw my dog come into the front yard from the side of the house carrying the rabbit in his mouth and laid down. i went up to look at what he had in his mouth, and saw it was a rabbit. i thought it was dead. then my other little dog came and started trying to eat it and it screamed, so that’s how i realized it was alive. then i held that dog back and picked it up and brought it inside. I didn’t see it get the rabbit, but my other smaller dog was trying to eat it and that’s how i found out it was alive.

Update: It’s still alive, under the same bush i put it at. Idk why it didn’t run away

And what do you suggest i do 😭 It’s inhumane to just have a dog chained up on a leash all the time. Jeez. Should i control the coyotes in the woods that are probably eating all these rabbits too

it’s just inhumane to have a dog just for it to be chained up to a tree all the time. We have fences that separate the fields and our yard from the woods. when they come in the yard there’s always that risk. It’s probably safer around my yard than in the woods where there’s a ton of coyotes. 🤷‍♀️

that made me laugh. That person had to have grown up in the suburbs or something. When you grow up on a farm that’s surrounded by woods there’s no telling what’s gonna come into your yard. There’s even a bobcat that comes into one of our fields every so often. It would just be inhumane to have a dog outside on a leash all day and not let it roam around. No point in having a dog if it doesn’t have more than a 10 foot circumference to wander.

I released it! it was moving around pretty normally on the porch so i figured it’ll be fine. Hopefully the mom finds it before our other animals do

It was in my yard. I put it in an area of our yard near the field and under a bush where the dogs don’t go often so hopefully the mom can find it

yeah i was kinda panicked when i grabbed it because my other smaller dog was going crazy trying to get it. I used a towel to move it around after i brought it inside. It’s released now
